I sighed and looked at Uncle Blake. "What do we have to talk about?"

Uncle Blake rubbed his chin with his right hand and sighed. "I know what your mom did, Emma."

Panic rushed through my skin. "Oh. Okay..." Was all I could think to say.

"She left you here alone, and you're too young to be on your own."

What was he doing?

What was he thinking?

"So, I've decided you're comin' home with me."

I shook my head furiously. "Oh no. There's no way you can make me go with you."

"Uh, yes there is, and you're comin' with me whether you like it or not young lady."

Blech.

"Young lady" is what Mom and Dad used to call me whenever they were mad at me. I always hated being called that.

"Uncle Blake, I'm fine. Honestly."

Uncle Blake laughed. "I find that hard to believe."

I frowned. His little sarcastic attitude was getting old fast. "Uncle Blake, you are absolutely not my gaurdian, and you can't tell me what to do."

Uncle Blake scoffed. "Well, I'm about the only thing you got kid, 'cause your mom left you-"

I winced. Being reminded of it still hurt.

"-your dad and sister are dead, and I don't think there's any foster parents that would even consider takin' you in." I glared at him and crossed my arms.

"So why are you taking me in?"

"I have to. You're my niece."

It was my turn to scoff. "Of course. Your only doing it to make yourself look like a good person. You don't care about me! You only care about yourself! I bet you wish I was never born so you could live your perfectly normal life and not have to worry about me!"

I turned away and ran up the stairs, tears blinding my eyes.

I fled down the hallway, ran into my room, and slammed the door. I jumped onto my bed and covered myself up. I began to full-on sob for the first time since my mom left. All my terrible thoughts flooded my mind.

It wasn't fair!

It wasn't fair that Dad and Savannah died!

It wasn't fair Mom left me!

It wasn't fair that Uncle Blake was trying to take me home!

Why, oh why couldn't everything just go back to normal? I heard a knock at my door, but didn't respond.

I didn't wanna talk to Uncle Blake.

I didn't wanna talk to anyone.

"Em? Can I come in sweetie?" Blake's voice asked. After a few seconds of silence, he opened the door. "Well, I'm comin' in anyway."

Great.

I sniffled and felt his large body weigh down the bed.

"Emma?" He asked in a more gentle voice. His voice was filled with concern.

I continue to sit in bed letting the tears flow from my eyes. I don't say anything at all. Knowing that if I open my mouth I was going to start crying all over again. I did not want to look like a baby.

Uncle Blake takes in his arms and hugs me tightly.

"It's Ok Em" He said.

I knew that he was only trying to comfort me. I knew it would never be OK. It would never be OK unless I got my family back.
