8th September
I have started to have recurring nightmares, I had one last last night and one tonight. It's currently about 3am, my mind is a fog, I have nothing better to do than to try to pass the time to calm my thoughts. Blood curdling screams and the bodies of dead men startled me from my restfulness, I have read every single novel I brought with me(in hindsight I probably should have decided to bring more, but when your being to get as quickly to shelter as possible it isn't the first thing you think of), I am bored. I think I might take a walk around the Safe Place, I need some time to think.

Okay, I'm doing a log of me, walking around the building, as it happens, when it happens(of all of the lows I've surpassed, this has got to be the lowest of them.)I can see the grey gravelly slabs of rock that line this underground maze come and pass beneath my very feet, this lair is only dimly lit by the light of my torch(what can I say, I love retro items). All is silent, nothing as of yet that bears any importance to finding out the truth behind the madness. Okay if this book is read by historians of the future, I want to apologise for putting you through this, it serves no purpose. I'm not very 'with it' when I'm in a extreme state of exhaustion.

Oh no, I just heard a noise, the clattering of well worn boots, very suspicious. I need to hide, I reckon this darkened corner will do nicely. The Commander appears dragging, oh shit, two of my sleeping classmates. Two of the boys who bully me on a daily basis are being carried in his arms with a great ease. I follow him down a restricted corridor, if I am caught, who knows what will happen.

"Let's hook them up to the machine, drain them dry of any brain power these little fucking dummies have. The weapons due to launch in 5 days, we need to clear the whole place of these hopeless schoolchildren, for the ultimate future of the human race." He states, totally deadpan, his expression hasn't changed once throughout his speech. He is obviously a well seasoned killer.

He hands them over to the two guards, they await their orders.

"Don't just stand there like lemons, you know what to do." He yells at them as they scuttle off to the front of the machine, the two sleeping bullies are oblivious to their fates, one starts snoring.

The obviously frightened lieutenants step back, as if they're bracing themselves for the inevitable. They've seen this before, this disturbs me.

The equipment hums to life, the bullies suddenly open their eyes, they are in great agony, I cannot bear to watch.

Without much thought I know what to do.

"STOP!"I yell clutching the book in hand.(I couldn't write exactly what happened from this point onwards, seeing as I was trying to stop cold blooded murder, all of the following accounts for the day are basically what I can remember.)

"What? Kid, what are you doing here? Go back to the dorms." His false confusion mocks me.

"What are you doing to them?"

"Kid, we are just giving these boys some extra intelligence, to help them through life. Go, and mention this to no one."

The bullies begin to look vegetative, the life is sapped out of them. I know what they are doing and I'm not afraid of them, I may be a weak, nerdy loser but this isn't right. I must fight for justice.

"I'm not scared of you." I say plainly.

"What."

"I said,'I'M NOT SCARED OF YOU."

"Men, catch the next guinea pig for me."

The cowardly lieutenants turn towards me, I take this as my queue to run.
Though I am physically no match compared to them, my determination allows me to dodge past them as they crash into each other and fall on the floor looking rather dazed.

"I'll get the kid before he spills the beans, you nincompoops just burn the bodies okay."
They nodd sheepishly. The Commander rushes over to the weapons rack, grabs an assault rifle, loads it with ammo and takes chase after me. His intent is to kill.

My tired body begins to give way as I reach the dorms. Then I remember someone very important that cannot be left behind amongst this chaos, someone who I'm terrorfied that I'll never see again.

"MEG! EVERYONE UP! THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL US ALL RUN!"

Meg is the first person who comes to the door of the girl's dorm room, she stares at me sleepily, still in her pyjamas.

"Andy, what's going on?" She whispers, by this point the whole of the girl's dorm and the boy's dorm are awake and standing in the hallway.

The sound of a maniac firing a gun fills the vicinity, everybody is as afraid as myself but unless I do something now every single person is going to be systematically killed.

"EVERONE TO THE HATCH!" I scream as the beast draws closer and closer.

Everyone follows behind me, the popular people, the nerds, everyone because somehow they trust me.

I open the hatch everybody climbs out as the monster who stalks it's prey draws near, it turns the corner into the now empty room. In it's confusion it drops the gun, realising that it has been fooled, it claws at the hatch in desperation.

The wasteland is usually quite an empty place, however tonight it it inhabited by a small band of lost souls, fighting for survival in a world of little hope.

In the distance Meg spots an elderly lady, she looks up to us in shock.

"My dear children, what are you doing out here?Come over here." She speaks softly with concern.
"Who are you?" I question.

"My name is Two, I am here to help you."
