Blood stained the dirty metal floor. A pink ring surrounds my wrists from me pulling at the cuffs. The smell of rotting flesh makes me gag. Long jagged bloody scars stuck to my skin like tattoos.
"Knock, knock!" I didn't flinch at those knocks like I use to. The door opens, but I don't raise my head.
"Thump, thump." With each thump I know he was getting closer. Then the sound stops. I close my eyes, hoping that he will leave.
"Wakey, wakey darling!" he says. I intake a breath and raise my head up. I exhale and open my eyes to see his sickening grin. "Good morning Alice," he beams. I glare at him when he says that name.
"Oh don't give me that look honey!" "I'm not Alice or your honey," I say under my breath. He tilts his head to the side. "What was that?" he says, his grin fading away. "Nothing," I say a little bit too quickly. He narrows his blue eyes. "Tell me what you said."
His voice is dangerously deep now. I shake in my chair, fearing what he might do. "Tell me!" he screams. "I-I said I'm n-not Alice or y-your honey," I say panicking. The anger was still there, but it faded a bit.
He closes his eyes and sighs. "You still don't understand do you?" he says. "I guess that is my fault I thought I had explained it to you clearly, but I guess not." He reaches into his front pocket and pulls out a knife, "This should be clear enough for you." My eyes went wide with fear.
"No, please!" I shout. His sickening grin comes back and he grabs my left thigh. I scream and beg for him not to do anything, but the knife comes closers. Then intense pain shoots up my thigh. I scream bloody murder.
It feels like I am burning alive. It felt like it went on for hours, but then the intensity of it fades a bit. "There we go." I didn't realize I was crying until I feel wetness on my cheeks. "Look!" He beams.
I slowly look down and see a bloody heart with MH + AL in the middle. "Isn't beautiful?" he says in awe. He then laughs. I look up at the monster who I once loved, "Jerome," I whisper. He stops laughing. "What did you say?"
"J-jerome s-stop." My vision goes and comes. My ears are ringing and I can hear the sound of my heart pumping fast. Then everything goes black.
Here I stand at my grave. Rain drops hit my headstone. Wet red Roses lay on the ground in front of it. I'm invisible to the world now. Here is where I realize that love can cause your own death.
