**Jonathan's POV**

I walked into the Trump Towers and rode the elevator up to the 25th floor. I knocked on the door and waited. I really didn't know what to do. I needed to talk to someone about the conversation I had just had with Molly. And Patrick Kane was the person that knew her almost as well I did. He opened the door a minute later and I walked in before he had a chance to say anything.

"Hey Tazer, why don't you come on in." I heard the sarcasm in his voice, but I didn't really care. The more I thought about the morning the madder I became.

"Kaner, there's something wrong with her!" I noticed the confused look on his face as I jumped into a conversation that had only been playing out in my mind.

"Jonny, what the hell are you talking about? There's something wrong with Sarah?" Now it was my turn to look confused.

"No, you know that Sarah and I broke up a few months ago. I'm talking about Molly. That slime of a boyfriend she has is hitting her. He must have something on her because she won't leave him. She actually told me she loved him!" Patrick looked at me in disbelieve.

"Why do you think he's hitting her?" I had to remember that he hadn't seen her.

"The black eye she had when I went to see her this morning. I thought we'd grab our normal coffee, but she was late coming out and then was just in a rush to get to work." I could feel myself talking a mile a minute, but it was nothing compared to the speed my mind was going.

"So she told you he hit her?" I raked my hands through my hair and sat down on the couch.

"No, she said she ran into an open door while chasing Jade around. But she is not a klutz. You've seen her skate Kaner. She makes it look effortless." He nodded in agreement, but there was something in his eyes that I knew he had something to say and I wasn't going to like it.

"I've have seen her skate and she is graceful while doing it, but I have also seen her trip on a crack in the sidewalk Jon." I stared straight ahead as his words rang through my head. The words couldn't have been truer, even I had seen her trip on absolutely nothing but the toe of her own shoe. "I'm not saying you aren't right Jon, I just don't know if you should be jumping to conclusions."

"Pat, I've been hearing them argue a lot lately. I can hear the yelling through the walls. I just don't think that she is really that klutzy to walk into a door. She's lying to me to protect him and I want to know why."

"Then ask her Tazer. You're going to have to make her uncomfortable and you know there will be some yelling, but if you are that certain she's lying call her out on it." I knew he was right again. I hated it when Kaner was right...I also hated to admit that it happened more often than I cared to count.

"I just need to figure out how to get her away from him for a while just to get to the bottom of what is going on. I just don't know when or how I'm going to do it with our schedule."

"Maybe you should invite her to come with us to Minnesota. She loves watching the games live, plus I'm sure she wouldn't mind the opportunity to spend some time with her college friends."

"Yea, I already tried getting her to come and she said she had plans."

"Maybe you need to trick her into coming. I'm sure you can get Rocky on board. He loves to surprise his daughter." Patrick smiled. I thought for a minute about what I could pull off in less than 8 hours.

"That could work Kaner. I can send her some flowers with an apology note 'from him' and tell her there is a surprise helicopter ride for her. She has always wanted to take a helicopter ride. I'll have to talk to one of her sisters to help me get a bag ready for her. Then when she's there I can talk to her and hopefully get down to whatever is going down." I stood up and slapped Patrick on the shoulder. "I'd say you're a genius, but I don't want you getting a big head." He stood up and walked with me to the door. "Thanks Kaner."

"No problem Jonny. I'll see ya at practice." As soon as the door shut behind me I was on the phone making arrangements to get Molly to Minnesota.

**Molly's POV**

Well, that ended a lot better than I thought it would. I wasn't sure if Jonathan was going to buy my reason for the black eye I was sporting. I knew it was a long shot, but I could be a klutz at times. After we got out of the car the subject of my eye didn't come up again. I was relieved that the conversation was over and we just talked about hockey and Jonathan's life...2 of my favorite subjects.

I couldn't deny that Jonathan had a special place in my heart. I had known him for just over 9 years now and the more we hung out the stronger my feelings for him got. Not that I could ever follow those feelings. One, I doubted he had any feelings like that for me. Second, I was in a relationship.

Caleb and I had been seeing each other for almost a year and I knew there were people in my life, specifically Jonathan, that were not fans of him. No one really knew much about him or our relationship. That was probably a good thing. We had a strained relationship at best

My thoughts were pulled back to reality when the doorbell rang. I walked out to the door to see a delivery man holding flowers. I opened the door and let him walk in.

"I have flowers for a Miss Molly Wirtz." He said looking at the clipboard in his hands.

"I'm Molly." I said slightly taken aback by the beauty of the bouquet. He handed me the flowers and smiled as he walked out. I walked back into my office and set the vase on the desk. I took the note out admiring the beautiful arrangement of stargazer lilies, lavender and light pink roses, blue hydrangea, & lavender stock with eucalyptus and pitta negra filling out the pretty purple vase with green and blue streaks. I slowly read the note taking in the sweet aroma of the flowers.

"Molly, I am so sorry for what happened last night. I want to make it up to you. I've got a surprise for you at 5:00 at the Vertiport. Love you!"

I felt a slight smile as I finished reading the note. It wasn't the first time Caleb had sent flowers after a fight, but it was the first time he sent my favorite flowers in such a beautiful arrangement. The surprise and 'love you' were new things too. I wasn't sure what to make of the whole situation, but I would go.
