I threw myself back on my bed as I gave out a frustrated sigh. Today of all days was the day all my years of fashion sense disappeared. I could only think of one thing to do. I waited impatiently as the phone rang. After 2 rings a frustrated Maya came one the phone. "I have no idea what to wear!" we both said in unison. "Wear the black New York shirt, the wine colored shorts, your white converse, and your jean jacket." I said all in one breath. I could hear her shuffling through her closet desperate to get the outfit together. "Oh yes." she agreed. "Wear your blue spaghetti strap hightop shirt, black shorts, and your black converse." she said as I could hear her beginning to run a bath. "You're a life saver" I said before hanging up.
I was just walking out the door when Maya's white BMW pulled into my driveway. I had a white Camaro but Maya and I always rode together. Always. Plus it saved us gas.
"Did you pick out my outfit yet?" I asked her reminding her of my family reunion today at 3:00. "Why of course" she replied keeping her eyes on the road. "You, Laura Williams, will be wearing a white based dress, with blue, purple, and pink flowers with water color effect, and a black neckline. "Nice" I replied. With only 4 more minutes to get to school the rest of the ride was silent.

We walked down the school hallway. I noticed the student body looking at us and every so often whispering about us as well. Maya and I had never been popular. We were definitely known in the school for our great softball techniques, our beauty, and our financial status, but we weren't the kind of people to brag about it.
Maya looked around and looked at me with confusion in her eyes.
I gave her a shrug and kept walking. When we got to our lockers I felt like I was being watched. I turned around to find Luke staring at me.
Maya turns around to see what I'm looking at.
"Oh boy..." Maya says while groaning.
"What?" I reply back.
"You're making googly eyes at Luke!" She whispers loudly.
"I'm not!"
"Whatever!"
Some guys in our grade passing by said "Hey Maya, heard you got the hots for Luke"
Maya scoffed "Ugghh, as if!!"
"Wait what?!" I blurt out.
"I don't know, they think I like Luke because I kept looking at you guys during practice."
Maya slams her locker shut once she gets all her books and pulls me along to art class. As we walk by, I can see Luke staring at us in the corner of my eyes.

~Maya's P.O.V~
Through art and history class, I think of how rumors went around school saying I had a crush on Luke. I definitely did not, I have been crushing on Chris since I can even remember.
Once the bell rang I went to my locker noticing that Laura was waiting for me.
"Hey Laura"
"Heya!"
"Have you heard anymore rumors about me today?" I say while opening my locker.
"No" she said while I noticed her eyes wondering off to... ugh of course... Luke.
I put the books I don't need for my next classes in my locker, shut the door and grab Laura by the arm.
"Let's go to lunch!" I say.
We're walking towards the lunch room when I notice Chris across the hall talking to another girl.
"Laura, who's that girl?!"
Laura didn't reply and was glancing at Luke still.
"LAURA!"
"What?!"
"Who's that-"
"Hey guys" Chris interrupts, I didn't even notice he was walking towards us before.
"Hey!" I said trying not to make it seem like I was talking about him.
"What's up?" he says while we get in the lunch line.
"Nothing much, had our first softball practice yesterday." Laura says.
"Yea and someone over here keeps staring at Luke!" I say while pointing at Laura.
"Whatever!" Laura replies. "Um, I'll have a slice of pizza and red powerade please"
As Laura gets her food, I order mine "I'll have a slice of pizza and water please."
Once Laura and I get our meals, we head over to our table while Chris orders.
"Maya, do you think Luke likes me?"
With a surprised face, "Laura, how would I know?!"
"I don't know, it was just a question."
"What was just a question?" Luke says while sitting next to Laura.
Laura blushes a little, "Oh, nothing."

~Luke's P.O.V~
Ever since yesterday for some reason I can't stop staring at Laura. I don't know what got into my mind but she just looks so pretty.
"What was just a question?" I ask as sitting down next to Laura.
"Oh, nothing." She looks a little cute when she blushes.
"Maya, I didn't know you had a crush on me." I knew she didn't but I just wanted to tease her a little.
"Oh my gosh! I don't have a freaking crush on you Luke, they're just rumors!"
"Wait, you have a crush on Luke? Since when?!" Chris asks as sitting down.
"Chris, I don't have a crush on anyone." Maya replies really fast while not looking at Chris.
They all continue eating quietly while I play with my fingers.
"So Luke, are you sitting with us now or what?" Chris asks me.
"Oh, hmm I don't know..."
"Hey Luke! What are you doing over there? Come over here!" I hear Ryan, my best friend, call across the lunch room.
"Well bye guys, see you at practice Laura."
"Bye!" Laura says.
As I walk away smiling, I hear Maya say sarcastically "Oh, I guess I won't be at practice."
