Nothing. There was absolutely nothing in the room.

"Brittney!" Ashley screams.

I take off running back up the stairs to see Ashley's eyes bloodshot.

"He's not here either." She whispers, "Where are they?"

A second later the front door opens and in walks 3 very drunk guys and James behind them.

"Where the hell were you?" Crystal snaps, as Ashley and I are trying to wrap our heads around it.

"Bachelor party." James mumbles, "Sucked ass, if you ask me. But umm Ashley and Brittney I'd stay away from them for awhile. I have no idea what might happen while they are drunk."

Ashley and I nod and start to walk upstairs.

"Hey, Ashley?" I ask as we approach my room.

"Ya?"

"Where's Kenzie?" I ask.

She sighs, "When Caleb met up with Brandon and James he took her up to Brandon's family. I mean as far as they know Kenzie is still their granddaughter."

I nod, "As long as she's safe. I don't want her dragged in this or in the line of fire."

Ashley laughs, "That wouldn't be any good. But Brittney can we talk in your room in private for a second?"

I smile and nod and we walk into my room, closing and locking the door.

"Brittney, I know we started off on the wrong foot. I was madly jealous of you and didn't understand why you couldn't love Caleb. He told me everything. And I understood you better." She whispers, "I just was always jealous because any guy would die to be with you, and the one guy I wanted was yours."

"Ashley, don't put yourself down. You are gorgeous. Also Caleb and you are perfect." I smile at her, "You have a beautiful daughter, and once this is all over you, Caleb, and Kenzie can live your happily ever after."

She smiles back and wipes away the tears, "It's just that I cheated on Brandon. I had to pretend I loved him. Had to pretend he was my everything."

I nod and hug her, "Everyone understands why now. Nobody hates anyone now."

"I hope so. But umm Brittney that's not the only reason I came in here. It's that I was visiting Caleb about 2 months ago." She trails off.

"Ashley, go on." I motion for her to continue.

She sighs, "I thought nothing of it when I was late, but after a whole 2 months of not receiving my monthly gift, I went to the doctor."

"You're pregnant?" I ask.

She smiles and I pull her in for another hug.

"Please just don't tell anyone yet. I want to wait until everything is done with." She whispers.

I smile and pull way, "Your secret is safe with me."

Eating dinner with everyone was weird to say the least. Ally seemed convinced that Brandon and Ashley were a thing and that they weren't going to ruin Caleb and my wedding. So she invited them to dinner.

Nobody really talked. The twins didn't say any rude remarks to anyone. Caleb and I were getting along. And it seemed to be peaceful all the way around.

That was until an unexpected guest walked in.

"Brittney? You're home?" My mom asks.

Her once long, blond hair was a dirty mess. The clothes she was wearing looked like she had been wearing them for years.

"Yes, mother. I came home about a day ago." I reply, keeping my eyes on my food.

Caleb's hand slipped into mine, a comfort I had never felt before.

"You know your father is dead. He died of lung cancer. A week after you ran off. Not a single phone call or text from you, and now you're back." She snaps, "His last words were 'Tell Brittney I know.' What the hell does that mean?"

The final piece of the puzzle clicked into place. Ally wanted Patrick and my mother out of the picture. I saw the way she stared at my father when she thought no one was looking.

He knew what was going to go down. Ally had dragged him into it all. He didn't want to be apart of it, or so I think.

"Excuse me." I say, standing up from my seat and running up to his and my mother's shared room.

Luckily for me none of his stuff had been cleared out over the period of a month. I open up his dresser where he kept his notebook where he wrote down everything.

"Brittney, if anything ever happens to me. This is where my story is written. You will need it one day." He smiled at me and placed his leather covered book in the drawer.

Of course being the 10 year old I was, I didn't care. But now it all made sense. At 10 Caleb's abuse started. That's when his mom made the plan.

I pull out the book and flip to the first page.

"So it's finally time. Brittney, I'm sorry for not telling you sooner. I don't know how old you are. But I hope it's not too late to save Patrick. Please read on."

And so I did exactly that.

I throw the book onto the table where all 8 of us are sitting.

"Read it." I mutter, still in shock.

Caleb raises an eyebrow at me, but takes the book.

His eyes go wide as he reads each and every word.

"Where's the tape recorder?" He asks when he's finished, passing it to Brandon and Ashley.

I shrug, "That's the thing. I don't know. But I do know we need to find it before Saturday. Saturday is the day where we become free to do what we want."

Macy and Lilly exchange a look before Lilly clears her throat, "Do you meant he voice recorder that Mr. Klable recorder everything our mother said?" I nod and she sighs, "I know where it is. But I'm going to need some people to help. If any of you four-" She gestures to Brandon, Caleb, Ashley and me, "-come with our mother will notice. I will take Macy, Crystal, and James. We need a full say though."

I nod, "But how do you know?"

"We never hated you Brittney. Just hated everything you had. Your father slowly became ours. Shared everything with us the day before he died. Just trust us." Macy replies.

"Okay, wherever it is, you four go and get it. We will stay here and pretend that everything is normal." Caleb replies.

"Tomorrow, we go into stage 4. All hands in." James says.

All 8 of us put our hands in and cheer.

In less than 5 days now, we would be free. The world would know the truth and Ally would be paying her karma.

5 days.

Hey. That's all. Less of a cliffhanger I guess. I'm still pissed but oh well. Gotta get over it at some point.
