Vada Paxton isn't very excited about her two month school break. Her mom has to go to Texas for the entire two months, and that is a long way from Miami, Florida, where Vada and her brother, Carter, spend one week with Vada's friend, Audrey, and then one month, and three weeks with their dad, Nick, whoes girlfriend, Rebecca is a total psycho, and she has a son, Wyatt, who may seem like all sugar and sunshine, but who knows what he's going to do with Vada.
Vada is still hopeful that it won't be as bad as she knows that it will be, but maybe someone she meets along the way will help her forget all about it.
