Eumee's breath hitched. Her heart had stopped beating and her lips were shaking lightly. The air whipped behind her, making her hug her body. She pressed her hand on the name at the very start of the letter, feeling one of her rare miniscule smiles grow on her lips. The short burst of happiness inside of her slowly turned to disappointment and confusion.
I'm not brave, she thought, I never will be.
"Dear Brave,
You never will be alone. There will always be that person who will be there for you - someone who will be just like you. For me, there's you. For you, I'm not really sure.
You're not the only one who thought you'd never have a family. You know, biologically. You have family everywhere. Your friends, the orphans you know, your schoolmates.I'm sure you'd be able to experience having a family of your own once you're older. You will be able to experience the joy and laughter. Don't down yourself. If I was your family, I'd have a picnic with you. I'd laugh with you. I could even become your brother.
You're starting to grow on me.
Maybe I should become a psychologist. Seems like a good profession for me eh? As for you, I envision you as a clerk. I haven't seen you but hey, you're sort of professional. Right? Probably.
Why would he inform the officials? That's becoming desperate, don't you think? I think it is. Why would they even accept a case like that? Not being able to pay for a rent for an apartment that you don't even use. I forgot to ask you too - where do you live now?
Life isn't so bad.
You can solve all your problems. Remember, you're brave.
Strange is good, strange is good. Now you know, that if you need a rock, you can just get a piece of paper and place it on a brick wall. A rock will pass by, read it, and most likely reply to the letter.
What did make me reply to you? I guess...it was the hopelessness I felt in your letter. It was the will of you to do something that you'll regret.
- Kyler"
A clerk.
Eumee sat down on the edge of the sidewalk, the paper crumpling under her tight grip. A clerk was what this stranger - Kyler - thought she should be. Maybe it was right, maybe she should be a clerk instead of working behind the snack bar at a movie theatre. She bit her lip, opening her mouth to let out a short sigh.
She took out her pen and a notebook - ripped two pieces of paper like before, and placed the pen unsurely on top of the paper.
"Me, have a family?
That's quite unlikely.
No one likes me, no one wants to be with me. No one knows who I am. No one, but you."
She looked around, seeing a boy stop behind her and stare at the brick wall, as if looking for something. She frowned, looking him up and down. The boy had brown hair and gray eyes - something that she thought was beautiful. His stance was unsure and Eumee stood up, finishing her letter and placed it on the wall with the blank piece right under it.
The boy looked at her as the leaves of the trees shuffled around, with the wind, as if dancing. Eumee hadn't placed something to keep the pieces of paper still - leaving them to be shifted around by the wind. She would have screamed when the wind picked up the notes. Of course, if it wasn't for the boy who caught them before they got away.
The boy stared at the piece of paper, and Eumee started to wonder why he would be standing there, looking at the piece of paper with such curiosity.
That was when it clicked.
Kyler turned around, giving Eumee a stare that made her realize something.
"Is it you?" Eumee remained silent - not being able to reply. How could she? She brought her hands up, giving Kyler signals as Kyler stared at her wide eyed. "You're mute, aren't you?"
SUCKISH CHAPTER. I'M SORRY.
Sorry if I seem to be rushing this, but don't worry, this is the fourth chapter, and that means six chapters will be left. Yes, this will only have ten chapters :<
I lost my mood to write this halfway, so that's probably why this isn't as good as you hoped it to be - or as I hoped it to be. Thanks for the support though <3 Like on any other story, please leave comments because I'd be so thankful for constructive criticism c:
