"Hey, mommy. I got to go to school." I said, hugging my mom and kissing her cheek.
My mom frowned. "Aren't you going to eat breakfast?"
I smiled and shook my head. "No, mom. Sorry. I'm running late."
Of course I want to eat breakfast but if I'm going to be late one more time this week, they'll call my mom and my mom will scold me and I don't like being scolded.
My mom nodded. "Alright then. I have to go to work. I'm probably going to cover for Maria's shift tonight because she's on maternity leave so I'm going to stay overnight at the hospital and go back tomorrow morning. There's money in the drawer on my bedside table. You can buy yourself a pizza for dinner or go shop for ingredients if you want to cook."
My mom smiled at me and kissed the crown of my head, even though she's a few inches shorter than me. "Of course, mom. But maybe I'll cook tonight. I'm growing a bit unhealthy with only pizza keeping me going for this week."
"It's all up to you. Come on, I'll give you a ride to school so you won't be late."
We made our way to my mom's Audi. I opened the passenger side and got in the car while my mom went in the driver's side of the car and got in. I buckled up and so did my mom and made our way to school.

I'm wearing a white dress that reached my mid-thigh and a green jacket over it with black combat boots and a few bracelets in each of my wrists. My brown hair is slighty curled and looks a bit unkempt, like it has always been. With also a beige backpack.
The ride to school was as eventful as it always has been; my mom and I joking around and talking about those celebrities on TV and that Ian Somerhalder is hotter than Paul Wesley (which is TOTALLY true) and my mom would argue back that Paul Wesley is way hotter than Ian Somerhalder. She's as blind as she is in the dark.
My mom is like those cool moms you see on TV but she is also the workaholic type of mom. She stays overnight at the hospital because of her work as a nurse, leaving me money for dinner. To be honest, we're not rich. My mom just gets enough salary to keep us both alive for a month or two.
My dad left us when I was just three years old. My mom never really talks about him, a pretty sore subject. I have no idea why he left us. But I just hope wherever he is, he's living the life he truly deserves for leaving my mom and I alone to fend for ourselves.
I laughed at my mom's story about her co-worker in the hospital. She's a nurse in our town's hospital and she's pretty good at it too. Caring for other people. I don't know about caring for her daughter though...
I looked outside the window and saw that we've already entered the school premises. The school is just like any typical public high school in America. Boring looking building, students in cliques and the populars and the jocks bullying the nerds. It's almost like those cliche high schools in the movies and TV shows.
My mom parked the car near the tree near the entrance of the school. I grabbed my bag and kissed my mom on the cheek before going out of the car and proceeding to the entrance of the school.
"Hey, Lei!" I heard my mom call me from the car.
I stopped for a second and turned around to look at her, staring at her expectantly. "Good luck!" She said to me.
I smiled at her. "Thanks mom. See you tomorrow!"
Oh, only if I knew.
