Chapter Three

"Hey there, girly!" Shouted Rhea, my blonde haired, blue eyed friend as she jumped on me, hugging me to death. "I missed you!"

I can feel my oxygen being cut off. "Rhe-Rhea. Let m-me go p-please. I can't breathe!"

But it seems like she didn't hear me because she just continued to hug me like a teddy bear.

Then I suddenly caught sight of Lily, my other best friend, walking towards us slowly. She's a redhead with green eyes. "Help!" I said with the remaining air left in me.

Lily looked at us with amusement with a small smile in her face. She sighed before trying to pry Rhea away from me. "Hey, Rey. Stop killing our best friend. No one's going to do my homework for me if you kill her. Besides, you only saw her yesterday. It's not like you suddenly saw her after ten years or something."

"Aww but I don't want to." Rhea said childishly.

"Just let her go. Please."

Rhea pouted. "Oh, alright." Rhea let me go and I gasp, breathing in as much air as I can.

I faced Lily. "Thank you so much, Lils."

Lily shrugged. "You're welcome."

"Anyway, did you know that Allison Ford is dating Jaxton Ryans behind Luis Morley's back?" Rhea said. Yep, she loves gossip.

Allison Ford is the school's so called popular girl while Luis Morley is the school's jock. They've been in a relationship for a few months now and it's a surprise that Allison has dated a school nerd. Allison always tell everyone that she would never date a nerd. Well, there you go. She cheated on the school's jock with the school's nerd. Oooh, drama.

"Oooh, drama." Lily said, as if she's been reading my thoughts.

"Why would Allison even date a nerd if she swore to never date one?" I asked, clearly confused.

Our conversation continued until we reached our lockers which is coincidentally next to each other. "But she could have just broken up with Luis before dating Jaxton so there's one less drama in the world." Lily said.

"Yeah," I agreed, "She could have just broken up with him before dating Jax. Now, her reputation is slowly going down the drain."

"I actually talked to Allison about this." Rhea said, "She told me that she only did that so she could save the embarassment of dating a nerd by dating a jock."

We both looked at her more confused as ever. "That does not even make any sense." Lily said.

Rhea shrugged. "I was about to ask her to elaborate but her friends called her over before I can even ask."

"Aw, that's sad." I said. "No more addition to your gossip?"

Rhea jokingly gave me her murderous look before pushing me. "Ha ha." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes. Lily and I just laugh at her before the bell rang, signaling that first period is about to start in five minutes.

"Well then," I started, closing my locker. "See you guys in Chemistry."

"Yeah, see ya!" Rhea said.

"Bye." Lily said and we parted our ways. Rhea to Literature, Lily to Pre-Algebra and me to History. (A/N: I don't really know what year you take pre-algebra or calculus or whatever subject there is so if there's any mistakes please tell me. Thank you! BTW, they're all Juniors)

"Finally!" Rhea shouted as she came in my line of sight at the bench outside the school. "It's dismissal!"

I rolled my eyes. "Of course it is. What do think it is, Lunch?"

"Ha ha ha." Rhea said sarcastically.

I frowned when I noticed that Lily is not with Rhea because they always have last period together and meet up with me together after classes. "Where's Lily?" I asked Rhea.

"Oh, she got detention." Rhea said, sitting next to me.

I frowned even further. "Why? Lily never gets detention. It's usually you who gets detention."

"Wow, thank you for the vote of confidence best friend." Rhea said with sarcasm dripping from her voice. "And if you must know, she got into detention because she talked back to a teacher."

To say that I was surprised was the biggest understatement of the universe. "Goody two shoes Ms. McKay got into detention because she talked back to a teacher?"

"Yep," Rhea said, applying lipgloss to her lips, "I'm just as surprised as you are."

I felt my phone vibrate. I took it out of the pocket of my jacket and saw that Lily has texted me.

Lily: hey, got into detention. Don't wait for me.
Leia: sure! Take care.
Lily: u too

"Lily just texted me." I told Rhea.

She faced me. "Really what did she say?"

"She said don't wait for her." I replied to her.

Rhea shrugged. "Okay then. Do you have a ride home?"

I shook my head. "Nope. I'm just going to walk home."

Rhea frowned. "Are you sure? It's very dangerous to walk at this time. You could get kidnapped or something."

I laughed. "Don't worry, Rey, I can handle myself. Thanks for your concern though."

Rhea nodded, looking defeated. "Okay. Take care. It's a very dangerous world."

I nodded my head, smiling. "Of course. Thanks! You too."

"Bye!" Rhea waved at me.

"Bye!" I waved back.

I made my way to the school gate while Rhea made her way to her car in the parking lot. I got out of the school premisesand walked home. My house is only a 20 minute walk from school so it's not that far.

I walked for a few minutes before I felt someone looking at me. I looked behind me and saw that no one was there but there is a black van parked across the stree a few feet away from. I just shrugged, thinking it was just nerves, and continued to walk home.
