Allison's P.O.V
I watch through the window of my hospital room as my brother and best friend maul each other. Horrified of what he has become, of what he is capable of. They see him cheat, they see his remorse after. But they don't see what he does during the night.
He creeps into my room and whispers into my ear, all of his thoughts and regrets. All of his secrets and plans. He has told me, on multiple occasions about how he wants to shut them up. Not just the noise, but their pity looks they throw at him.
About how he sometimes catches himself fantasising ripping out the hearts of everyone in the pack, how he wants to do it too. But even in his darkest moments, he knows he won't because I'm here.
I remember his rant last night, around midnight.
"I want them all to go away! The looks of pity, and the looks of... Hatred. My pack hates me Allison! What good am I if my own pack wishes I wasn't their Alpha, what good am I if my own pack wishes I was dead?" A silence passes throughout the room. "You know what? What good are those assholes without me! If I wasn't here they would have perished long ago when Cindy left to chase after her petty little needs.
"I could end their suffering right now if I wanted to, and I would know that you would encourage me to if you were up right now as well. I would just be finishing the work you started!"
"Colton, no." I had tried to tell him, as if he could hear my pleading voice.
I have watched him spiral down, pulling the once mighty pack along with him. When they used to loom over all the other packs, they now cower at the sight of rogues on the borders.
I gaze helplessly as three strangers pull in, a small girl with two older males. My mate shifts behind a tree and walks straight up to the girl, fixated on her. My upper lip curls back into a scowl, I can't wander too far from my body or the link between us will be broken. I may be left walking the Earth on my own, but my physical body would be dead.
"You know this is your fault." I turn to face the door, a librarian stands before me. Impossible, I watched my mate snap her neck!
"You can see me?" I ask, however strong my hatred is, I am in awe of the potential company that could mean I could get out of this hell hole.
"It is my magic keeping you under." She replies, walking over to my physical body.
"Get away from there!" I jump over the bed in a protective stance.
"I wouldn't make the only person who can wake you up angry Allison." She tsks, but moves away nevertheless. "If you hadn't been so selfish and jumped to conclusions, your mate would still be faithful and your pack mighty."
"Or, if you hadn't betrayed us and messed with our relationship I wouldn't have been put in that position in the first place." She smiles slightly, tapping her fingers on her lap as she takes a seat in the hospital chair.
"True, but you were in my way. It was necessary. You would have done the same." I am the way biach.
"What was I doing that was restricting you from doing... Whatever weird old evil witch librarians do for a living."
"That is disclosed information, but I'm sure that you can put two and two together, you're a smart girl. But first you need to find two and two don't you?" Do you plan making sense?
"What am I allowed to now? Or did you just come here to make my life in hell even more miserable." I flop down next to my physical self, already bored of my new found company.
"That girl out there. Alpha's daughter, beautiful, caring when she trusts. A much better suit than you don't you think? She's strong, hates her mate, loves to fix broken things. She may be the savior of your pack." The woman tells me, padding over to the window and leaning forward ever so slightly. "She may be the final blow to your relationship."
"How do I wake up?" I ask, ignoring her nonsense. Colton may be fluffing around with others at the moment, but he wouldn't give the Luna title away.
Cindy wouldn't let him.
The pack wouldn't let him.
"When the biggest act of betrayal has been committed by the five you hold most dear, only then will you be set free." She replies, smirking as I realise what she was getting at before.
"You won't let me get up until he murders the pack, or gives another my title."
"And the other four? Think hard child." She hums, basking in the sunlight.
"Mal, leaving me knowing what my mate is doing behind my back and still turning her cheek and going back to the rogues. Cindy, also leaving. Giving her Alpha title up to Colton, knowing that he will lead us to our doom..." I rack my brains for the other two. "Ida, giving up on me and leaving my physical body."
"Evelyn..." She drawls out slowly, I glance up at her.
"That little girl has grown on me. I love her like a daughter." I inform her, that girl couldn't hurt a fly.
"What if I told you she has potential. She was born to betray, I have seen it."
"If she found happiness somewhere else I would be happy for her." The librarian smirks slightly.
"It is not abandonment you fear from her Allison. It is something much deeper that would affect you."
"If she and Colton got together, I would be alright. I know she is good for him and would refuse his offer were he to try give her my title." She shakes her head once more.
"Try again, I know you know what it is."
"If she sided with my enemy." She looks up at me with an evil glint in her eye. Bingo.
"Oh my dear Allison, in death do us part and apparently, I am as good at evading death as you. Neither of us are dead, which begs the question... What is my next move?"
