The Hunter's Secrets

: Chapter One :

"What happened to her? Is she alive or not?" I ask the doctor, holding on to that hope that my mate, my Allison could have escaped death. 

We pulled her out of the ground, and unbolted the coffin only to find her pale face remain as still as ever. Not even a flutter of an eyebrow, not only five minutes later she had rolled off the side of the table like a lunatic and opened her eyes before falling into death's arms again.

"Our Luna has received a steady heartbeat. We believe that some very dark magic was involved in order to place her in a death like coma. The bleeding out and the wound would have been merely a way to inject the poison, not enough to kill a werewolf but enough to fool everyone, including herself. We believe the criminals wanted her to wake up already buried, and have another slow and more painful death. She must have woken up earlier than expected." He explains, a wave of grief washes over me.

I could have killed her, thirty minutes earlier and we would never have even known that she was slowly being suffocated.

"Is she awake?" I try pushing past the pack doctor, but he stands firmly in the doorway effectively earning a threatening growl from me.

"Sorry for any disrespect Alpha, but I feel that you should know this before heading in. The Luna has a steady heartbeat, but we have no clue when she will wake up." I become outraged at this statement, so now she has a heartbeat but in that same demeaning position I resent so much?

"What do you mean Doctor?" I hiss angrily, the man gulps nervously.

"It seems that the Luna is in a coma Alpha." I let out a defining roar, I refuse to believe that she resembles death with a heartbeat. If Allison was truly alive, she would be beating something to a pulp, or mocking me!

Not lying on a bed, possibly having no idea what's going on or being able to note her surroundings.

"Calm down Colton!" I cast my livid eyes down the hall to where Malagoria and Cindy are making their way towards me.

"You are disrespect me?" I snap at them, knowing full well that they shouldn't have to address me formally. This is all Randall talking, but me complying.

"I'm sorry Alpha,  didn't know that family had to address each other like they are higher status.  Please excuse my pitiful mistake." Cindy whines, a perfect mix of sarcasm and anger. I snarl at her angrily.

"Allison is right through that door Colton, do you really think that after hearing about her hope of living she would want you to kill the doctor for not being able to fix something entirely out of his control? He saved her life Colton, don't act like such an ass towards him." Malagoria snaps at me harshly.

"That's a low blow coming from you witch, considering you were ready to kill her mate after her death." I tell her, equally as angrily.

"Doctor, I think you should leave before this gets too violent." A new voice appears from behind me, I whip my head around to face Evelyn softly ushering the doctor away. She takes light and graceful steps towards the other two women.

"You had no right." I say to Evelyn, who slightly cowers behind Cindy.

"Just like I had no right to address you by your name brother? I think it was completely in her rights to save that man's life. Carry on like the way you are, and you would have ripped out his throat, whether it was an accident or not." Cindy states, showing high signs of frustration.

"I think your mouth is starting to talk a bit too freely sister, yo-" I am cut off by the witch.

"Shut up, you have no reason to be acting towards your sister like that. Now, not only are you disrespecting your mate, but also your parents by treating your sister like shit. You two are equals! Twin leaders who share the same amount of leadership in a pack, yes Cindy may have given you her title but she still has the Alpha gene. Stop being such a prick."

"You know nothing of what my family is like, so don't even compare my actions to what they would and would not approve of. As for my mate? The one who is currently lying in her death bed behind this wall? In case you haven't noticed, her conscience doesn't need your advise. Our souls are connected, not yours! So don't go around telling me what and what does not respect her. She doesn't need three unreasonable girls in there to watch her. She needs her mate!" I shout, getting more and more distressed.

"Colton, I think you should stop being so selfish and worrying about your needs. Yes I get it that you are losing your mind over this, and I understand that you feel completely helpless in this situation but you are not the only one! You have a pack to run, they are lost out there! You made a promise to Allison and with every second you are wasting here arguing with us, you are disrespecting that promise. Those people need a leader Colton! Are you going to step up and act like the Alpha everyone sees you as? Or are you going to pack a sad every time your mate gets herself into a pile of shit, because that is nearly weekly." A silence falls after Cindy's speech, I finally decide to break it after contemplating my answer.

"I made that promise because she was dead." I walk away, past the mass hall where the pack is waiting for guidance and straight to my office.

A/N

Ooh, first chapter of the new and improved Hunter's Secrets!

If you previously read the book, then you would have noticed that there will be a considerable difference to the book but it will follow the same plot line.

Just better.

I personally think that this book will be better than both, the original 'hunters mate' and recently taken down 'hunters secrets'

But that is not up for me to decide.

Anywho, this was published in celebration of The Hunter's Mate reaching 100k views! Thank you guys so much!
