Chapter 1

"Beatrice! Hurry up you're gonna be late for your first day of school!" My Mom yells.

I slowly lift the covers off my head and put my feet on the cold wooden floor. I really don't want to go to this new school. I wish my Mom, my Dad, and I could just drive back to Abnegation and live there again, but no! We had to move to Dauntless because my Dad got a new job with the mayor, Max. I have to admit I am a little excited to start school, though, because for some reason my teachers at my other school hated me and practically threw a party when I gave them the letter that told them I was moving here.

"I know, Mom, I'll be right down!" I yell so my Mom knows I'm awake. I throw on a pair of black leggings, a maroon sweater, a nude color scarf, my favorite pair of brown boots, a few rings, and a pair of triangle earrings so I won't look like a slob my first day.

I race downstairs, grab a granola bar, my keys, my bag an  head out the door. I hop into my black BMW 4 series coupé. (Sorry I don't know anything about cars or what they're  called😂) I turn on my radio and blast my favorite song No by Meghan Trainor and sing along until I arrive at Dauntless High School.

I get out of my car, let out a sigh and start walking to the school's front door.

"Hi! You must be Beatrice Prior." The guidance counselor says when I walk into her office.

"Yeah, that's me, but most people call me Tris," I say, trying to be nice to the extremely perky lady in front of me.

"Oh, okay, Tris, I'll print out your schedule and call down your tour guide."

"Tour guide?" I ask because I had no idea I had a tour guide.

"Yup, we made sure you had someone who was in all your classes so you wouldn't be lost." She hands me my schedule and a girl with mocha-colored skin walks through the door.

"Tris, this is Christina. Christina, this is Tris," Mrs. Perky says.

"Hi, Tris," Christina says and I say "hey" back

Christina leads me to our first period class, and I sit down in the desk next to her. The bell rings and kids start to file into the room.

"Hey Chris."a boy says and sits down next to her. A bunch of other kids sit next to us too. 5 boys and 3 girls to be exact, not counting me and Christina.

"Hey guys, I want to introduce you to the new member of our gang, Tris. Tris this is Zeke, Uriah, Will, Four, Al, Marlene, Shauna and Lynn." I'm greeted with a million Hi's so I say Hi back with a smile on my face.

The rest of the day is boring, but now I get to go to my favorite class, music. I heard the teacher, Miss Tori, is the nicest teacher ever so I'm really happy about that.

I walk into the class and see Christina so I take a seat next to her. Miss. Tori must see that I'm new and calls me up to sing a song for the class so I decide to sing my favorite song.

Once I finish every one in the music room stands up and claps.

"Tris that was amazing, would you mind singing a song for us tomorrow?" Miss. Tori asks me in awe.

"Sure, I'll be happy to anytime." And with that I walk out of the room and head to my bedroom
