Chapter 1: Paired Rings

Kazuki Yuichi. Handsome, intelligent, tall, popular, he seems so gentle to everyone. He doesn’t choose people whom he talks to even if he has the highest status a student can get in our school. He is like running for president because of his charismatic charm. Well, he is actually our Student Council President. There are many students who hate him because they are jealous of him but no one is mad at him and showed disrespect to him. Almost all of the boys' population in our school is being skeptical of him. Who’s not?

I don’t really understand why most the girls' population love him. Even me that is one-year younger to Mr. Kazuki, doesn’t have any interest in him. He just really got my attention when my cousin and bestfriend Kawamura Akihiro got rejected by the school hottie, Tachibana Mai.

"Why?!" Why is it that I'm not lucky?! Why am I so unlucky?! Why in the world are there perfect human beings like that Kazuki, huh? Wait!! No, that's not the point. The point is, why does he even exist in some regular old private school like ours?! And an upperclassman of all things!!!" Aki cried. Well, I can't blame him for cursing Kazuki. They are almost a couple and then Kazuki appeared. Mai dumped Kawamura because of Kazuki.

"Sorry, I'm inlove with Mr. Kazuki." That's what Mai said to Kawamura awhile ago. Short but hurtful. Those words are straight. I'm a little bit mad at her because she just suddenly fell inlove within a snap to a senior who is just a newbie in school. Because of his popularity, he also became the student council president. But I'm not saying that he just uses his looks to get people. He is on the top of the class and they say he is really good in leading which I don't give a shit.

Kawamura has been rejected 27 times since I became close to him. He is my cousin. We're not that close before but we became mega buds when they moved near to our house. We're always mistaken as a couple because we are always together but we're really just bestfriends. It's a sin to have a relationship with my cousin. It's just that their house is near ours and we go to same school.

"Why is it that I am not Kazuki?!! Why is he perfect???!!! Why am I not popular?!" Kawamura continued. I expect that he will not stop whining all night long.

We use to have a little drink in our house when we have problems. We are like brothers sharing our problems to each other. Even if the problem is small, we always talk about it and help each other to forget or to solve it by drinking.

"It's Kazuki's fault!!!" Then he opened another can of beer and drank it straight to half.

I  understand my cousin's situation and I'm aware of what he feels. But I also understand what Kazuki feels. That he is begrudged by just existing. That's also a thing that I am amazed to. There are many people who dislikes him but no one is mad at him. I haven't heard a news that someone is talking bad about him

Just like me.

Kazuki Yuichi, also called as Yui or Mr. Kazuki for formality. I always see him from afar, always wearing that smile which is loved by most women in school. He looks peaceful that he is like not having a problem. He is not a snob and he doesn't ignore anyone. The people around him treat him normally. He doesn't have weird friends either. He also don't give a look that he uses black magic that can manipulate girls to fall inlove with him. I'm not inlove with him but I don't like him. I'm not mad at him but I don't want him.

"Look at this, Natsuki. I bought a couple ring for us. Nonsense!" Kawamura said as he take out a box from his pocket and showed it to me. I opened it and saw a pair of rings. It has small stones around the gold wavy band that changes color depends upon the mood of the relationship of the couple wearing it.

"What?! No way! These are the.."

Before I can even finish my sentence he butted in "Yes, you're right. These are the designs that are popular in our school. I had a hard time looking for a pair of it. Even if it is so expensive I bought it just for Mai. I spend all my one month allowance just for this stupid rings."
