Something worth noting:
If you're wondering why I'm putting her name at the top with the title, I'm going to be switching perspectives between Sera and Liam throughout the novel. I really hope you like this part! It's the true beginning.

So, it really all started that Friday, a few weeks ago. Honestly, I don't remember the date. Could you blame me? All the eleventh graders were going on a camping trip for "group bonding," or whatever. I thought it was immensely boring, and so did Liam. His sister, and my best friend, Raina loved group bonding and camping. She was having a hay day with all the "trust" and "love" going on. Liam and I, however, thought it was the most stupid idea we'd ever heard of in our lives. So we decided to sneak out and explore the forest while everyone was asleep, to get some sort of experience from this camp. Really it was Liam's idea, but when he opened Raina's and my tent in the middle of the night and asked me if I'd go, there was no hesitation. I pulled my golden hair into a ponytail and left with him, smiling like an idiot.

"What are we going to do?" I asked, as we walked through and unmarked piece of forest. "Just explore?"

"That's pretty much the plan," Liam answered with an adorable smirk. "I really haven't thought anything out besides getting away from that dreadful campsite." I laughed at that, and we continued on our way. I followed him, since there was no path and I had no clue where we were going. Then again, I don't think he really did either. That's how we made it to a place where no human was expected to venture. Deep in the heart of the forest, where we couldn't hear or see any signs of our camp, or anyone else's. Liam stopped abruptly, and looked around.

"What?" I wondered aloud. He turned to face me.

"Nothing, I just thought this would be a good place to rest for awhile." He sat down on a fallen tree and I took my place next to him. "You know, we never really get to talk, Sera."

"Yeah, I know." I agreed. "I'm always hanging out with Raina, and you're not home."

"That's because I'm always hanging out with your brother, Alistair." He laughed. "Ironic, isn't it?"

"I guess so." Alistair was my only sibling, and three years older than me. But he'd always gotten along with Liam, so Liam was never around to talk to. I smiled. "I've heard alot about you, though."

"Have you now?" He asked skeptically.

"Good things, I promise. From Alistair and Raina."

"Raina talks about me? Why?" They didn't get along very well. We only talked about him because of my massive crush.

"No reason... You just come up sometimes, that's all." I said nervously. "What do you know about me?"

"Just a few things. Alistair barely talked about you, and when he did he just referred to you as his little sister and was talking about something that drove him mad. I do know that you like the outdoors, though. And we had a few classes together, remember?" He explained. Do I remember? How could I forget?

"Right, I know you're good at math and science." I said.

"Not as good as you are!" He replied. "You get straight A's every time."

"Oh, stop it." I laughed. "You memorized everything. You saved me in those classes."

"Sure," He said, unbelieving. "But that's really all I know about you. Except..." He trailed off.

"What?"

"Nothing." He answered quickly.

"No, except what?" I was persistent.

"Except one more thing." He said.

"And what might that be?"

"I know who you like." He said quietly. What? How could he know that? The only person who knew was... Raina.

"When did she tell you?" I asked defensively.

"What? Who?"

"Raina."

"She didn't." She didn't? Who else knew?

"Then who did?" I wondered.

"Nobody told me, I figured it out on my own."

"No, you didn't." He couldn't have. I was very careful not to-

"It's okay, you don't have to keep it from me. I won't tell anyone." Maybe he had the wrong person. Yes! That's it. He got it wrong.

"You don't know." I began, shaking my head in disbelief. "The only person who knows is Raina, and you probably don't even-"

"I like you too, Sera." He cut me off, grabbing my hand.

"Wait, what?" My head snapped towards him, eyes wide. Did I dream that? He turned slightly to face me and I froze. I couldn't believe he actually said it. Leaning in, he brought his hand to the back of my neck and gently pulled me in for a kiss. Butterflies. He liked me! After years of talking to Raina, and him having other girlfriends, he finally liked me. He pulled away first and looked me straight in the eyes, smiling. I put my arm behind me on the tree and leaned back, unable to come up with anything to say.

And that's when the ground beneath us gave way and we fell into a deep, dark hole. I screamed, grabbing Liam's arm as we fell, hitting the stone floor hard. Wait, we're in a forest. Why is there stone? I wondered fleetingly, before I cried out in pain, hearing a crack as my right ankle hit the ground.

"Sera, are you alright?" Liam asked frantically, unable to see me in the darkness of the hole.

"Yeah, I-I'm okay..." I lied, as tears rolled down my cheeks. My ankle felt broken. "Are you?"

"I'm fine," He said, waving away my concern. "I heard something snap, what happened?"

"I landed on my ankle." I said, tears falling even faster.

"Oh my God, are you okay?" He found my other arm, the one that wasn't already holding onto him, in the dark and held my shoulders. "Can you stand up?"

"I don't know." I hiccupped, beginning to panic about our situation.

"Alright, I've got you. Just... Try to put some weight on it." He said, moving his hands to my waist to support me. I got to my knees, stood on my left leg, then tenderly touched my right foot to the floor. I immediately jumped up in pain, falling forward into Liam. I began sobbing into his chest. "Shh, you're gonna be fine. You probably just sprained it, let's try to climb out of here. And get back to camp." He comforted me. I blinked my tears back rapidly and tried to calm my breathing. Right. We'll be fine, I just fell. We'll get back to camp and someone can help us.

Liam wrapped one arm around my waist and supported me as we moved toward the nearest wall. Our eyes had adjusted enough to see each other now, and we could see where we were. The hole we fell into didn't look like much of a hole at all, more like a stone box underground. Looking up, I stopped blinking back my tears and and cried again. There was no way out. The walls were smooth, and at least four times as tall as I was. I looked back at Liam, panicking again.

"We're stuck," I said defeatedly. "There's no way out. We'll die down here."

"Don't say that." He chided. "I'll get you out. We're going to make it."

"Maybe," I said. "If you can find a way out of here I owe you with my life." Liam opened up his mouth to respond, but before he spoke a noise filled the air. It sounded like many aerosol cans being used at once. We looked around in confusion, then everything went black.
