Sixteen
Sixteen. It's such a strange age to be. On one hand, you're officially turning into an adult and more is expected of you, and on the other, you're leaving your childhood behind. You're now officially closer to being an adult than you are to being a child. And while it's sad that you're leaving all those fun times behind, and it can make you anxious, it's also a new door. It's a brand new door to more and more opportunities. Sure, you may cripple with stress at times and you may have existential crises, but at the same time, you're finally doing what you want. You finally have a voice and people don't just disregard your opinion as 'child talk'. When I was younger, the sole reason I wanted to be a teenager was so I could have an opinion and people would take me seriously. And although I miss my childhood, I do love being a teenager even if it means I consider death much, much more.
I hope you enjoy your 16th birthday and I hope 16 is the best year for you yet. You can drive now. You're only 2 years away from being able to vote. You can now watch Disney's 'Sixteen Wishes' and relate to Abby. Sure, 10 years old was all fun and games, but 16 years old is all new experiences and places.
Enjoy your birthday my love. I hope you liked this little present. Happy Birthday.
