Everyone has seen pictures of mermaids.Many medieval sailors claimed to have seen them and such reports continued right into the 1900's. Deep down in the ocean, the most preposterous creatures live below in the dark swimming about, maybe lingering around for someone to notice them, Do they ever come up to the surface to be exposed?
Pearl sits there in the middle of no where on a rock combing her towering blonde hair, smoothly singing to herself. Mermaids sing to lure in men passing on boats but they are never interested in them, they just like teasing them! Pearl was different to any mermaid before, she was known as one of the Syrians, these mermaids are known to worship the moon goddess, the Goddess Atargatis.This Goddess is one of the first recorded mermaids and the legend says that her child Semiramis was a normal human and because of this Atargatis was ashamed and killed her lover. Abandoning the infant she became a fish... "What's on your mind?" a merman came lurking out of the waters and sat on the rock aside Pearl, she groaned. " you don't have to actually speak to me, its only because my Father is making me marry you Roan" Roan laid back ignoring what she said and replied "its very peace-loving and tranquilize out here, I see why you come..."
Pearl stopped combing her hair and gazed into the far distance, her skin turned pale, her neck hairs stood up on end, Her eyes turned Dark Blue when feeling threatened or any danger ahead, she froze as she spotted a black huge ship sailing north unhurriedly but for some reason she felt vulnerable.
Pearl watched the sailors closely and looked like they were pouring toxic cans in the water which leaked out black dirty liquid into the ocean turning the water pure black and polluted, she slammed her hands onto the rock with anger and resentment, Pearl knew if they pollute the water it would at once kill her and all the other beautiful and ravishing creatures of the ocean, Straight away she hurdled into the water and swam to the mysterious ocean floor to inform her other fellow mermaids on what was happening at the surface. Together, the mermaids all swam to the outsides of the water and watched curiously on what the sailors were up to specifically, Pearl stayed well behind all the other mermaids-discussing what they were going to do about the pollution .One of the suggestions were relocating which made Pearl realise something had to be done,so she thought getting a closer look at the ship would give her all the answers.
Pearl swam underneath the scorching water, got away form the mermaids and swam nearby the hair-raising ship. She was blown away with the size of the ship, she hadn't seen anything like it. Suddenly a sailor looked over the edge and saw her looking up.They made eye contact. startled Pearl dived under the water, she could hear the echo's of a mans voice out of the water shouting " men, someone's gone under! give us some help" All of a sudden a man dived into the sea and grabbed Pearl firmly, his muscles wrapped around her waist, She felt alarmed and knew if she fought back it would be helpless.
Pearl became hysterical and pulled the sailor away, she opened her eyes widely and saw the sky and seagulls swaying by, she got up and wiped her eyes and saw a man kneeling down holding her hand, "Are you okay miss?" He asked, his voice was deep and romantic, Pearl looked at him in amazement, because she hadn't been near a human before as close as she was with him, she whispered "yes." Pearl shockingly looked down at her crystal blue tail that once was there but she was now looking at a pair of fresh human legs...
