Chapter Three
"I don't know if Mellissa should go.. She doesn't know the laws, she doesn't know what could get her in trouble.. One step out of line and she could be hung or be-headed, and I don't know if I can watch that happen-"
"It won't happen, alright? You can show her the ways, tell her things to say, where you both came from, that you now have a husband, and if you need me I'll feel it and I'll be there all dressed up and ready, alright?" he asked and I felt myself calm down.
"Alright.. But we have to ask Mellissa if she'll do it, I won't do this unless she agrees willingly full heartedly." I said and he nodded.
"You know everyone here would do anything for you." he said and I bit my lip.
"Any way that any of you know how to speak Bulgarian?" I asked and he scrunched up his eyebrows.
"You speak Bulgarian. You come from Bulgaria?" he asked and I swallowed but nodded.
"Da Jaxson Pravya. Tova e moyat dom ezik." Yes, I do. It is my home language.' I said and he raised and eyebrow.
"That's sexy." he whispered as he grabbed me and pulled me to him, but I pulled back.
"No it's not.. It's scary. Does Mellissa know?" I asked and he nodded.
"We have had a lot of time on our hands, and you know she's the 'all knowing' one in the clan besides me." he said and I nodded.
Mellissa had agreed full fledged. I got dressed and washed my hair, making it my usual curls and I pinned it up in something elegant.
"That looks.. Different on you." I heard Jaxson say and I smiled lightly.
"Good.. Mellissa are you ready?" I asked and she came in with a fan and herself dolled up.
"Yes, I very much am. How long are we going for?" she asked and I shrugged.
"A week at most." I said and she nodded.
Jaxson tried getting me to stay a bit longer, and his goodbye was so heart felt, I almost stayed behind. Until Mellissa reminded me why we're going. Oh right, my family.
Soon we started our run that made it easier for us while Crimson and Kam had volunteered to ride the horses for the longer trip so by time we were ready to leave we would have transportation.
After a six hour run, two bites to fill us up, we made it to the outskirt of the town I grew up in.
"Are you sure about this?" she asked me caringly and I looked to her, bit my lip and nodded.
"Yes, I am. I need to get my brothers and sister out of here, if they want out." I said and she nodded. I walked forward with her following.
"You have to speak Bulgarian all the time or else you'll be an outsider and that would be unwelcoming, suspicious, and that'd draw attention to us.." I filled her in on the rules mostly while we walked at normal speed.
"Ok, I think I have it all." she said and I nodded.
"I won't let anything happen to you.. You know, if something goes wrong, I promise." I said and she looked to me with a soft smile.
"I know." she said and I wrapped my arm with hers as we walked, finally making it to the concrete. I saw the crowded streets, and the huge square that was used for selling fruit, and other goods that were fresh from their gardens to make their welfare because they were taxed..
We walked through the market.
"Do you know where they are?" she asked, using the language.
"No. I will start with my oldest brother who had his house before things went wrong with him." I spoke back and we both made it out of the crowd and to the houses that had farm animals, wood log fences, and hay.
I came up to the old house, and I walked passed the gate.
"Stay here, please.." I told her as I gestured to the place to sit. She nodded and sat down, and I knocked on the door.
I heard rustling, and soon a door was opened.
"How can I help you-" he cut himself off as I looked up to him, and his eyes widened.
"Sinica? What are you doing here, if father sees you he will take your life just as he-" I hugged him to shut him up and I glanced to Mellissa who was tense and staring at me with wide eyes.
"Do not tell me that we came here with your life on the line.. If Jaxson knew he'd never have consented to you coming.." Mellissa said in English but quiet enough to where no one we couldn't trust could hear.
"What are you to standing out her for, come inside, come.. I will help you two stay hidden and safe as best as I can." he said as he opened his door and stepped in so we could come in.
