"And one day, I will become deputy, and then become leader of MistClan!" Fang meowed as he jumped off of a pile of dirt. Cindertail wrinkled her nose at the smell of Fang. "Stop jumping in the dirt, and start making some. Then we can go back into the warm nursery."

Fang had grown twice as big as when he was born, which was two moons ago. He could also speak now, and had high hopes for when he is a warrior. Leaf bare was also coming, and Fang couldn't wait to see what they call, snow.

Fang finally made dirt, and scampered back inside of the nursery. Cindertail sighed, and followed. The nursery was much warmer then the other dens, and outside. Cindertail lay down and watched Fang pounce over to Twanytail's kits, Gingerkit and Tigerkit.

"Hey guys, you awake?" Tigerkit yawned and stretched so his fur rippled. "Well now I am." He mumbled back. Tigerkit was a very grumpy cat, and only sometimes happy. "Oh, sorry Tigerkit. I guess Gingerkit is still sleeping. I don't think I should wake her up as well." Fang nervously chuckled and dashed over to Cindertail.

"For once could you be a normal kit, and stay with your mother?" Cindertail mewed with amusement in her voice. Fang glared at her and replied, "You know I'm not normal. I don't have a two part name, and StarClan isn't even mad. I guess that just makes me... Special."

"Okay, but just know, that doesn't make you instantly the leader of the clan. When your older, you will have to work extra hard to become deputy, and volunteer to help out." Fang thought about it for a minute. Volunteer? That sounds easy.

"Now get some rest, Fang. Then you will have the rest of the afternoon." Fang quickly settled down. Once he goes to sleep, he would wake up and explore the camp. Even if it meant sneaking out of the nursery.

A couple of hours later, Fang woke up with a start. He slowly got up, and his fur rippled when he stretched. Then he checked to see if all of the cats in the nursery were still taking naps. Good. Let's go and explore!

Fang tiptoed quietly out of the nursery. Once he made it out of the small cave, he gasped at how big and exciting the camp was. He saw big strong warriors racing around, going on patrols, and hunting for prey. He even saw a big red cat training an apprentice. Redstripe!

Fang slowly strolled up to the two cats, and hid behind some bushes. He could finally see his father in action. He watched as Redstripe pounced onto the ground, and rolled to the side, and went in for the bite.

He chuckled at the sight of his father fighting an imaginary cat. After Redstripe finished, he singled his apprentice, Foxpaw, to do the same, except to him. Foxpaw ran up to Redstripe, and rolled out of the way, so he wouldn't get blowed. Then he pounced at Redstripe and gave him a quick bite.

Fang gasped as he saw the young apprentice bite his father. But he didn't know that it was just a small bite, and didn't hurt the big warrior. "Excuse me?" Fang gulped and turned around to see the cat that found him.

"It's okay, little one. I'll bring you back to the nursery." The cat held Fang gently in her jaws, and brought him over to the nursery entrance. Then she placed him on the ground, and gently pushed him inside.

Tigerkit and Gingerkit were playing around with Twanytail, and in the corner his mother lay awake, glaring at Fang. He gulped, and tried to go back outside, but the big she-cat who carried him in, wouldn't let him go back.

"Fang!" Cindertail was very mad. "Come here this instant!" Fang slowly strolled over to his mother. Then Cindertail turned to the cat. "I am terribly sorry. I promise he won't do it again."

The cat smiled at them, and padded out of the nursery. "Fang! How dare you go out into camp without a grown cat!" There was a minute of silence. "Well, I guess it's not as bad since you didn't do anything bad. Or worse. Bring another kit with you."

Fang stared up at his mother with sad eyes. "I'm sorry, Cindertail. I promise I won't do it again." Cindertail sighed.
"That's better. You better hope you don't do anything bad again in front of that cat. Your lucky she wasn't mad, and punished you."
"Who was she anyway?"
"Nightstar. Our leader."

Fang gulped at the thought of the bad first impression he made to his leader. That would not help him become deputy one day. He may never even get the chance. He would have to try even harder once he becomes a warrior.
