Fang

Chapter 5

"Fang, you fur ball!" Fang woke up to a sudden start at the call of his name. He slowly opened his eyes to see another apprentice, Smokepaw, right in his face and let out a meow of confusion. "You slept in! And you also woke Pebblepaw up with your murmuring! She was up all night last night doing her medicine cat duties. You should be ashamed."

Fang rapidly shook his head and agreed with Smokepaw. "Oh, I don't know why I do it! I guess I should apologize to her right away." With that, he passed by Smokepaw, and made his way out of the den, and down to the medicine cat den.

Once he got inside, he watched as Feathertail (The medicine cat.) And Pebblepaw scrambled around the den, sorting herbs, helping patients and tending to the clans frail elders. After Pebblepaw was finished doing one thing, she would move to the next.

"Maybe I should come back later..." Fang mumbled to himself as he padded out of the den and over to the fresh kill pile. He picked up a plump vole, and laid down next to Gingerpaw. She also was eating fresh kill, but only a small vole.

"Do you want to share with me?" He calmly asked the fiery orange apprentice. She opened her eyes widely and mewed back. "Um, I guess, only if your fine with it." Fang nodded his head, and quickly gave her a fast lap on her cheek, and Gingerpaw turned red. "Of corse I am."

So the two apprentices both took their turns of sharing the vole. Finally when they finished eating, Gingerpaw gave him a closed eye smile, meowed a thanks, and set off. She is really pretty... He thought, as he started to get up and go to the medicine cat den again.

When he got inside, he noticed Pebblepaw was getting up from a very short nap, and was coming over to him. "Hello, Fang. I see you had a good sleep." She mewed suspiciously at Fang, and he got a little shiver. "Oh, right. Sorry for waking you up..." Pebble paw shook her head.

"It's okay. I could barely fall asleep with Smokepaw's snoring." Fang nodded his head thoughtfully back. "Alright, see you later for the gathering!" Pebblepaw gave him a mew of excitement in return, and he padded out of the den and over to Silverheart.

"Good morning, Fang. Are you ready to go to your first gathering after we train your battle skills?" Silver heart asked him excitedly, and he let out a big yes. "Alright! Then let's go to the first training hollow."

They made their way out of the camp, and went through the first hunting path, and into the training hollow. "Okay, show me what you learned last time." Fang nodded his head, stepped back, and pounced on Silverheart. He then jumped off of her, and rolled out of her way, and swiped at her chest, but didn't actually end up hitting it.

"Nice job! Next time just make sure you get the chest swipe, and then you got it!"Fang gave her a tired smile, and they went back to their quiet camp for the gathering. When they got back, Fang watched as Breezetail gave out orders.

Once the clan was all organized, Nightstar came out with a warm smile directed at Fang. "Nice job today, Fang. I heard you did well!" Silver heart gave him a smile as well, and they got in line to leave for the gathering.

"Alright! Let's go!" Nightstar gave out the order, and Fang followed his clanmates out of the camp, and down the ravine. Then he spotted Gingerpaw more to the front of the line, and caught up to her. He gave her a small smile, and she lapped him this time, and Fang turned red.

After a lot of walking, and bumping into other clans, MistClan made it to the gathering to see that the other clans were already there. Fang noticed you could tell how the cat look of what clan it would be in. He could see FlameClans leader, Coalstar, CloudClans leader, Littlestar, IceClans leader, Goldenstar, and their leader, Nightstar standing on the great rock, waiting for the clans to settle down.

"Welcome back, cats of all clans." Coalstar began, looking around at all the cats. "I have some news I would like to share from FlameClan, if I may start it off." He turned to look at the other leaders, and they all nodded their heads.

Coalstar continued. "FlameClan now has two new warriors. We have Lilacheart and Firepelt." Cats from FlameClan cheered at the sound of their two clanmates. "And thats all for us. Goldenstar, you shall go next."

Goldenstar slowly walked forward on the great rock the loomed over all of the clans. "Greetings. IceClan is doing well, except there has been sightings of dogs, so please look out. Nightstar may go next."

Nightstar smiled at Goldenstar, and took a step forward. "Hello, clans. MistClan is doing very well, and we have gained three new apprentices. Tigerpaw, Gingerpaw, and Fang." MistClan cheered, and Fang blushed. "And finally Littlestar shall come next.

Littlestar thanked her, and came forward. "Greetings. Goldenstar, CloudClan has also had some dog sightings. And I guess that closes the gathering." Clouds started to cover the moon as the clans all went their separate ways.
