I feel really bad for Liam, but I just don't like him like that. We sit on my couch, taking in the late day sun. I peel away the wrapping paper on the present, and gasp at the present.
Lots of letters are in a box, each with different envelope colors and writing on the front. One of them says "Open if you're having a bad day," and another says "Open to remember how much I love you."
I turn to Liam, his face in a goofy grin.
"You're going to make me cry," I say, my eyes starting to water.
"Go ahead, let it all out," he says, laying down and opening his arms out.
I hug him and cry into his shoulder, him rubbing my back. He's warm and comforting, and after a while, I calm down and fall asleep in his arms.

I wake up in Liam's arms, not knowing what to do. His breathing is slow and regulated, sleeping. I crawl out of his hold, careful not to wake him, and into the kitchen. I grab my box of cereal, and grab a bowl, the floor creaking as I make my way around the kitchen. I make the bowl of cereal, and sit down to eat. I hear the stairs creak as someone is making their way to the kitchen. Libby stops as she reaches the living room. She stands in the opening, watching Liam sleep.
Libby has had a crush on Liam for a long time. She often liked to stalk him, and stay close to him every time he was over. She doesn't do it much anymore, but she still does have a crush on him. She claimed the one year age gap between them couldn't stop her from loving him. I always deemed this statement outrageous, but I kind of do believe it.
Libby sneaks into the kitchen to find me watching her watch Liam. She walks towards my seat at the table.
"You never saw that," she whispers into my ear.
"Yes, I did see it, don't deny it," I reply.
She sighs quietly, and grabs a granola bar. She makes her way to a seat at the table, and opens the granola bar wrapper. She looks at me.
"Are you okay?" she asks.
I shrug. I haven't really imagined my life without Liam. I'm still going to have him, just not in person. So am I okay? No.
Libby pulls out her phone.
"Kinley's going to be here soon," she says.
I nod. Kinley is Libby's best friend, and they are stuck together like glue. When you don't know her, you think she's the most innocent blonde girl ever, and won't do anything to hurt you. In reality, she's nice, but not so nice that you're going to puke your guts up. I really never understood how they became friends, and why they're still friends now.
