I'm at my locker, putting my books away in a rush so I don't miss my bus. I have first round, so it leaves about 10 minutes after school actually ends.
I slam the locker shut and turn on my heel towards the exit, and I hear someone shout my name, I quickly stop and turn around to see who the unfamiliar voice belonged to.
I was surprised to see Jess, one of the most prettiest and popular girls in the school. She was a athlete, she plays tennis, basketball and made it into the football team which is rare if you're a girl. (It sucks I know) I usually never talk to others that are well known in the school, and they try to never associate themselves with me, and I've only talked to this girl like once in class so I really have no idea why she's talking to me now.
"Hey," I say as we walk outside together. Immediately she has people shouting hi at her but she focuses on what she came to me for.
"Hi. I know you might think it's weird for me to be talking to you." She laughs with her eyes squinted. It was really sunny out.
"A little," I admit. "What's up?"
"I'm throwing a party tomorrow and I was wondering if you wanted to come?" She asks me once we're outside of my bus. I have to admit she is really pretty. Her hair is a light shade of brown, it's curly but has a natural hint of beach waves too,she has tan skin and a nose piercing that goes perfectly with her looks. Shes gorgeous and so incredibly nice fat it makes me want to be her.
"Uh.. I'm not sure." I say scratching the back of my neck. I'm starting to feel insecure around this girl, I probably look like a sack of onions next to her.
"I know it's not really your scene, but it's probably a lot better than what you do on your weekends," she laughs, and I'm not sure if I should be offended or laugh with her. "Just swing by? It'll be fun, promise."
I sigh and finally give in. "Alright." I say in defeat.
She gives me a giant genuine smile and hugs me before she's dragged off by some other group of her friends.
I scratch my head trying to figure out what all of that was about, my bus driver opens the door and shouts at me if I'm going to hop in. I furrow my eyebrows and get in without argument.

"So, are you gonna go?" Liana asks me. We're both sitting on her porch that's connected to her room. I just finished telling her about my weird encounter with Jess, but I don't really expect her to understand since she just recently got here.
I pull up my legs and hug them to my chest, "I don't know, I told her I would but I don't really think she would notice if I didn't go."
"You should just go, Emily. You could make new friends and make memories." She shrugs.
"Stop, you sound like my mom." I groan throwing my head back to look at the cloudless blue sky.
She laughs at me and throws a pillow that was on her rocking chair, it almost falls off her porch but I manage to catch it. After that, we almost die of laughter.
"Will you go with me?" She gives me a look. "Please? I don't want to go alone."
"I don't know Emily, I have so much things to do here.." She says thinking in a world of her own.
"Come on, you could make friends and make memories." I mock her.
She glares at me, "you're so dumb." She laughs with me. "Fine." She gives in and rolls her eyes.
"Yay!" I shoot my fists up into the air and stand up.
"Where are you going?" She asks me, looking up and squinting her eyes.
"Well, if we're going to a party I have to pick out a outfit." I say stretching my back.
We say our goodbyes and soon I'm going down her stairs. I'm about to leave and go home when the exit is blocked by Joel.
My heart jumps at the sight of him, but I quickly furrow my eyebrows at him. Ever since we went to the movies together, I've been trying to ignore him. I don't know what happened between us, but I do know that something happened, something that's made me start to see him in a new light and I'm not sure if I like it. The way he looked at me wasn't the way boys usually look at girls they find 'annoying'. And the way I thought about him defiantly isn't the way I thought of him the first time I talked to him.
"Excuse me?" I say gesturing with my hands for him to move out of the way.
"So you're going to that girls party huh?" Joel asks me, leaning against the door with his head tilted to the left. God, he looked good.
"How do you know that? Were you listening to me and liana's conversation?" I ask placing my hands on my hips in a very sassy way.
"Maybe. But my mom definitely won't let her leave without someone going with her."
"So?" I shrug. "I'm going with her."
"I meant me, you idiot." He laughs. I simply roll my eyes at him.
"So what? You want me to invite you or something? Because that's not going to happen Joel."
"Unless you want to go to that party then I don't know, it's your call." He smiles at me in a bribing way.
This little dick head.
"You're so annoying." I roll my eyes and push him out of the way.
"Ahem what?" He calls after me when I leave the house.
"Yes Joel, you can come with us!" I shout back at him, and flipping him off without looking back. I can hear his loud laugh from behind me, and I have to shake the stupid grin growing on my face.
