I see the end.
She had been staring blankly out the window when she uttered those words, the same window they used to sit on and whisper warm words in each other's ears.
He knew what she meant. No matter how hard he tried to trick himself into believing she had meant something else, he couldn't avoid the truth that faced him.
So he would sink to his knees and hang his head, tears falling silently from his shut eyes. His fingers would curl into his palms, leaving little half moons in the soft skin.
And the crushing guilt was back, though that time it was gentle, cradling his heart and reaching for his shoulders.
"Even if I try to forget you
I like you, I liked you"
