This place was larger then I imagined. My feet ached and I glanced up at Celeste, who was blabbing on about something to do with a few people we saw back a few minutes ago. She didn't seem tired or anything of the sort. It was quite amusing.
She was older yet she seemed younger. Maybe it was just the accident. Maybe it affected me so much that I've just become so much more mature. I got so lost in my thoughts I wasn't pay attention.
"Mia? Hey, Mia?" Celeste was saying my name and she sort of sounded off to the distance. I shook my head and awoke from my thoughts, "what is it?"
"I thought I lost you there," She laughed and I sighed, shaking my head softly, "No, no, I'm fine, just thinking." "About?!" She chirped.
"Oh, nothing. Your just so... Full of life. How do you do it?" I looked up at her and she must've sensed the small bit of sadness and distance in my eyes because she stopped quickly and hugged me.
I didn't know how to react. But, then it hit me. Back at the diner she did the same thing, so, I just reminded myself about it. She's quite the hugger. I hugged back and I heard a soft whisper.
"I can tell there's something huge bothering you.. whats wrong?"
I pull away, looking up at her then sigh and sit down on the concrete. She followed my lead and sat by my side. "If you must know... My mother died recently.."
This kept her quiet for awhile, then a few moments after she threw her arms around me again. I could sense the emotion in this one and instantly hugged back, "how?"
I sighed and pulled away, fixing my hair, "a fire... that's why we moved here.. My father didn't want to stay in the same state in which my mother died in..." I looked down when I finished
The silence grew after and I looked back up and the girl had been on the verge of tears. She was literally about to cry about something that happened to me.
I scooted closer and started wiping away her tears with my thumb, "hey, it's alright, I'm alright.." She gently rested her cheek against my hand, calming down slowly. "I enjoy it here.."
She nodded and stood up and lended out her hand. "How am I so lively?" She asked as I looked up at her then took her hand and I nodded and she pulled me up.
"two reasons. FISH- Fuck it shit happens and you."
I laughed and smiled, "you know your really sweet," I lightly punched her arm. She blushed gently which confused me quite a bit but I decided to ignore it. Straight girls shouldn't blush at simple compliments. Unless she wasn't. I shuddered at the thought, I really didn't want to have a female friend that could possibly develop a crush on me.
"Hey, it's getting kind of dark, I'll walk you home, if you'd like." Celeste suggested and I nodded gently, forgetting about the possibility.
The girl smiled and I did as she did and I pointed in the direction of my house and we started to walk. The breeze felt nice as we chatted and smiled. I balanced myself on the edge of the sidewalk, smiling and laughing as she told me about her brother.
We soon made it to my tan house and she smiled brightly, "hey, thanks for letting me take you around town and I'll see you tomorrow?" I tilted my head, confused then remembered. School. I nodded and smiled, "sure thing!" This made her smile more and hug me again.
I hugged back without much hesitation and it lasted a while until she broke off and started walking off before turning back.
"Oh and, sorry about your mother again."
I smile once more and walk inside with a soft nod.
God I so wish she isn't into me...
