After months of struggling to find a stable job in L.A., Lux finally gets her big break: as a personal assistant for a rapper she's never heard of: Skate Maloley. Considering the record label is paying her well, she strives to ignore his constant ar...
It's been three days and I still haven't heard from Nate. I've been spending a lot of time in my apartment doing nothing but reading, napping, and thinking.
There was a knock on my door & I wasn't expecting anyone so I had to throw on some jeans and the t-shirt I slept in the night before.
There was another knock.
"I'm coming," I shouted.
When I opened the door, surprisingly it was Nate...and he was holding a bag of In-N-Out.
"Hey...can I come in?" He asked.
"Um," I quickly looked around my usually messy apartment. Luckily it was decent today. "Yeah, sure. What brings you here?"
He closes the door behind him and takes a deep breath.
"I wanted to apologize for snappin' like that. You were violated and I didn't do anything about it, so I'm sorry."
I folded my arms and looked toward the window. If I looked at him and the scruff on his face for too long, I'm sure my legs would give out.
"Is he...still in your house?"
"He never lived with me," he shrugged. "But if you're askin' if he's invited over anymore, the answer is no."
"Okay," I nodded with a sigh of relief. "I'm sorry this all happened."
"Don't be. It was gonna happen sooner or later, he likes bein' assertive. Doesn't mean it's okay but there ain't no controlling him. But uh...I bought a couple burgers and fries- you eat meat, right?"
"Yeah?" I chuckled.
"Most of these L.A. girls are vegan & shit. I never know what to get."
I led Nate to the table and we sat down.
"You buy girls food a lot?" I smirked.
"You know how I do," he bashfully grinned, taking the food out the bag. As much as I wanted him to smile again, I knew I would internally scream seeing those dimples.
"Good to know tomorrow's meeting with your manager is still a go." I got back up and went into the kitchen to grab a couple beers.
"What time is that, anyway?"
"10 AM sharp," I answered. "Which means you have to wake up in the morning for once. Need me to give you a wake up call?"
"Nah just come over and wake me up yourself. I ain't gonna wake up to a phone call."
"Oh, so now I have to wake up extra early," I laughed, handing him a beer.
"Part of the job, Miss Finley."
It was nice seeing this side of Nate again. I wish I saw it all the time. Not 'Skate', not the 'bro' as his friends called him. Just Nate as nature intended.
