LILITH
Henry groaned out. "Tell me again your plan."
I sighed and pinched my nose. "I told you. I need you to straighten out both doctors."
"And why do you need to do that? And most importantly, why do I need to do it?" He almost whined. "You're the boss around here."
I frowned. "It's becaue I am the boss. I can't have the other doctors hating me or fearing me. I need them to trust me."
"I still do not get why I have to do it."
"It's because your my personal assistant," I grinned at him and nodded. "And besides, I need you to do it with your specialties."
He shook his head and finally relented. "Okay, I'll do it."
I clapped my hands together and smiled. "Good. Now one problem is taken care off, we need to think about what to do with No. 46."
Henry tilted his head to the side. "I thought you already knew what to do."
I nodded and started to gather the scattered folders on my table. "They aren't getting rid of her for sure, but what I don't know what to do is how to stop her from going berserk again."
We were both silent for a moment thinking of how to deal with the situation.
"Wait!" Henry suddenly says. "What if we double our procedures and then she would finish her mutation process? This way she won't go berserk and attack any doctors."
I frowned and thought about it. If we do this and hurry up her mutation process, this will certainly stop No. 46 from going crazy and attacking the doctors. But...
"What if this will kill her though?" I asked him, worried.
Henry shrugged and crossed his arms. "That's a risk you'll have to take then."
I clenched my hand around the paper I was holding and gritted my teeth. "I made a promise to these kids, our patients, that I would give them a better chance at life from their crap lives and I'll do anything to make ends meet."
Henry nodded. "You know what to do doc."
I called all of the doctors responsible for the procedures and told them of my plan. As expected, there were disagreements. I silenced them with my hand and calmly explained my reason to do so.
"You know this as much as I do guys. This is the right thing to do if we want to avoid anymore incidents. We are doctors and we are supposed to do everything we can to help someone. In our case, it is No. 46. But we are also scientists. You all know that this is better than throwing away a rather potential patient."
Slowly, one by one, they understood my reason and saw the logic in it. I nodded and gave a small smile.
"Now, Dr. Harold," I called to a lanky doctor. He was proud, I might say, but I knew he would accomplish my special task for him.
"Yes?" He replied.
"I need you to monitor all the procedures from now on until No. 46's mutation process finishes. You answer to me and only me, okay?" I asked him.
Hiding a smug grin from his colleagues, he nodded and cleared his throat. "Yes, Dr. Lilith."
Dr. Floura raised her hand, her teeth gritting out of annoyance. "Why are we risking so much for one patient?" She asked.
I crossed my arms and glared at her. "It's because she is a patient. It doesn't matter if she is No. 12 or No. 65, but because she entrusted her life to our hands, it is not only right but also just plain obvious that we do everything we can to uphold our promise."
Her cheeks tainted red after a few seconds and she glowers in her seat with embarrassment that I just shut her up and all her other questions.
This time, it was Dr. Drew that raised his hand and asked, "And her mutation?"
I raised an eyebrow. "What about it?"
"Will it change?" He questioned.
I sighed out of annoyance. They were supposed to be doctors and scientists with degrees to match. They should be able to answer their own dumb questions.
I shook my head and said, "No, it won't. We have identified her mutation. And she herself know what her body needs to fully mutate. So no it won't," I assured them. "It's up to us now to develop completely her mutation."
I looked at all of them and asked, "Anymore questions?"
All of them shook their heads and muttered 'no'. Seeing this, I clapped and smiled. "Good. Now, off to your work places you go and let's keep our promise to No. 46."
When all of them finally left, I slumped down my seat and gave a heavy sigh. God, that was tiring as hell trying to convince them.
"About that special assignment Henry, I want it done by tonight. They're annoying me with their looks." I told him.
He nodded absentmindedly, totally engrossed on his tablet playing a game.
"Henry!" I called him louder.
"Huh?" He looked up with a dazed look.
"I said, I want the assignment done by tonight." I repeated to him.
Henry nodded with a roll of his eyes. "Consider it done anyways."
I nodded happily. "They were giving me a migraine with their questions."
He smiled at me and said, "Good job by the way on how you handled them."
I laughed and shook my head. "I try my best."
