Its the day of our first rehearsal.

As always I'm first to arrive - I can't stand being late, but also can't stand waiting alone for everyone else to arrive. I twiddle my thumbs for a while but soon they start shaking - I am nervous.

We won the Sing-Off - hundreds of groups auditioned but they chose us, what am I to be nervous about? They obviously like us?!

The feeling soon subsides as quickly as it came so I try to keep myself busy before it creeps up on me again.

I look around in the large space, there's a massive recording booth and hundreds of sliders on the control desk. As well as a small dance studio for choreography and a separate room for brainstorming ideas and songs I guess.

A smile spreads on my face as i look up at the wall, there are pictures of us performing every show in the Sing-Off hung on the walls. All in our weird costumes, but singing our hearts out. Once again reminds me of how lucky I feel and trust me I do feel lucky. Its cute how the whole space is personalised for us - A banner reading "Congratulations Pentatonix!", mugs with our NAMES on (Pretty psyched about that) and a microphone each also personalised.

The sleek greyish-black door opens.

"Hey Scottie! How you doing?" Kevin smiled a big grin showing all his teeth. I jumped up and went to give him a hug.

"Yeah good! Great actually, Avi and Kirstie with you?"

"Yeah they're just com-"

"Scott, Hi! Looking forward to todaaay?" She used her sing-song voice and her little smirk quickly spread on her face.

"Kirst, What's up? I am so excited - can't wait."

Avi slid through the door. "Oh hey guys" His voice boomed and echoed throughout the massive room, "Sorry Scott, we would've picked you up too but knew you'd be leaving before we woke up!"

I chuckled, "Don't worry, it's no big deal"

Kirstie and Kevin had already started exploring the rooms just as I had done. Kirstie was examining the mugs too. I heard the faint sound of "Mugs with our names!"

"You know where the producer guys are?" I called over to them.

She waved her mug in Kevins face. "Kev, this is SO CO-" She turned around to face me looking a little embarrassed. "Oh yeah, uh, I think they said they'd be here at quarter-to?"

I checked my watch quickly, 9:48. It didn't bother me - I guess I'm not as stressed out as I thought I was? The others are all joking around so I walk over to join them but get interrupted mid-step.

Click.

A short, balding black-haired man in a dark suit entered the room. He walked swiftly and looked very professional. "Ok, Let's get started ri-"

"Hi, I'm Scott. Really nice to meet you" I blurted as i put on my friendliest smile and outstretched my hand.

Are you kidding, did I really just do that? Why did I do that?

Avi shot me a look and as I looked beside him so had Kirstie.

I glanced back to his, surprisingly green, eyes and realised his mouth was still half open from the unfinished sentence.

He laughed it off as if nothing had happened and continued:

"Oh I'm terribly sorry, let me introduce myself - I'm Carter Leland. You're producer, manager and well your lawyer for today"

Leland set down a thick stack of papers which made the table shake.

"Don't worry friends, once I separate them into four piles its not so much!" He grinned up at us as he efficiently sorted them. He was right - there wasn't so much when he put them like that.

"So, if its alright with you lot we can get started with the paperwork. Now, it just states that we own you" He paused regretting his word choice. "From a labels point of view!" He let out a forced laugh.

Kirstie looked a little skeptical "And..."

"Oh yes, and that we help you out deciding your career moves regarding music, not to fret though we won't tell you to do anything drastic!"

He chuckled, again.

"Anywho, if you could all sign on the last page at the bottom it would be great thanks." He clasped his palms tightly and gave us an expectant gaze.

"I think we should look this over.." Avi blatantly gave all of us looks.

I really don't want him to think we're being rude or to think we don't trust him. He is going to be our Manager and producer for the next 3 years so we have to get along. But everyone is being so hesitant and well, rude right now..

"Look, lets just sign it now guys cmon." I reached inside my blazer pocket and found a pen, hoping to encourage the others.

"I mean you don't have to sign it now.. Its just if you don't.. well, we'll have to wait at least 2 months to do this again."

Kevin gave a trusting look to me and nodded, "Alright, if Scott thinks its best for the group then lets do it. Its not everyday we get offered a record deal"

I reached down to the table to sign and gave a last look to Kirstie just to check she was on board - Her lips slowly curled into a smile.

We really were doing this.
