"I thought I was leaving in two weeks," Alex said in between sobs.
"Shit," Tobin said. It was unclear whether she was devastated or infuriated.
"Tobin, I'm so sorry. I don't care how long we have to be apart, I will always love you more than anyone else."
"I love you so much Alex, and you're the best thing that has ever happened to me. Ever since we first met, I knew you were going to be my forever and always. You have been by my side through everything. Through my injury, my saddest times, my happiest times. You make me laugh, smile, and sometimes, even though I still love you, you make me mad. I love you so much, and--"
Alex grabbed Tobin and kissed her. Tobin wrapped her long arms around Alex, and Alex leaned over and rested on Tobin. This moment was interrupted by Alex's text tone. The Orlando Pride manager texted Alex.
Tom Sermanni: Alex, I need you here in three days. Did you let Tobin know?
Alex: Yeah, I told her, and she's not happy about it.
Tom Sermanni: Well, Alex, you should've thought about who this would affect before you decided to sign with us. Especially because you and Tobin are such a young couple.
Alex: Tom, can you please find a way to void the contract or something? I'm worried about how Tobin is going to be when I'm gone.
Tom Sermanni: I'm sorry, Alex, I can't.
Alex: Well, thanks anyway.
