Alex's face is submerged in fear, sadness, and anxiety. Tobin grabs the phone out of her hand and reads the message.
Tom Sermanni: Change of plans, we need you here by 7:00 AM tomorrow morning. I'm extremely sorry for the inconvenience.
Tobin ran out the door to the car, not bothering to throw away her trash. She sat in the car alone for a few minutes until Alex came racing out the door to comfort her.
"Honestly, Alex, I'm at a loss of words. We were supposed to have two weeks together. Now we have less than 24 hours," Tobin sobbed.
"I'm pretty mad, too, Tobin, but--"
Before she could continue, Tobin interrupted," I'm not even mad, Alex. I support whatever choice you make. I'm sad. Devastated. Completely, 100% wrecked."
Alex stared at her with a concerned look on her face, opened her mouth to say something, then closed it. She grabbed Tobin and hugged her tight.
"Tobin, no matter what happens between us, our love will always be my number one priority. I don't care what that idiot Tom Sermanni says. You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, babe, and I can't let you slip away just because I'll be gone for two years. No way will I ever let that happen."
Tobin grabbed Alex's face and kissed her. She loved Alex, too much to turn their love to ruins because she can't control her sadness. Alex pulled away and buckled her seatbelt.
"What are you doing?" Tobin asked.
"Well if we only have less than a day together, don't you think it'd be smart to go and have the time of our lives?"
Tobin smiled, put the car in reverse, pulled out of the parking lot, and raced down the street, tires screeching against the cement.
