It has been one year since Samus offered a job to me. One year since I told his parents that I wanted to be a Fragment. Everyday for the past year has been the same exact routine.
From 1000 hours to 1600 hours, I would be working at The Beacon with Samus. From 1630 hours to 2000 hours, I would be practicing the skills of being a Fragment with Lizre. Finally, at the end of the day from 2030 hours to 2200 hours, Lizre and I would go to The Beacon to relax.
During that whole time, my parents would think that I was working in the Heart of the City at the Palace. It was good that they believed that. Otherwise, I could be arrested and killed. But I would be fine as long as my parents d believe that in where I'm not.
Today started as a normal day for the past year. Except that today was my ninth birthday. Samus said that he would have something planned for me once I got to work, so I was rushing to get there.
I accidentally ran into somebody when I was running. We both fell down to the ground. Once I recuperated, I saw that it was Trechren. I haven't seen him since last year.
"Oh my god! Trech!" I screamed as I brought Trech into a giant embrace. I haven't seen him for about 9 months. He has school to be at, and I don't. Well, I do, but my parents told my teacher that I'm working at the palace, so I won't have time for school. That's what Trech believes too. The only people that really know what my job is is Samus, Lizre and of course, myself.
"Why aren't you at the palace already?" Trech asked.
"I don't start until 1000 hours. I'm actually on my way there right now," I told him. We then unhooked from each other.
"Then you better get going. You don't want to be late. I heard that one person was 5 seconds late and they got one of their toes chopped off to remind them to never be late ever again. I don't want you to lose your toe, so go!" Trech yelled at me. I then got off the road and started to run. But not towards the palace. Towards The Beacon.
When I got there, it was 1001 hours. At least I wasn't actually working at the palace. That would be bad otherwise. Samus was at a table helping get a drunk guy off a table that seemed to be covered in blood and booze.
"Hey Jords! You know what to do. I will need to talk to you when I'm done dealing with this drunkard," Samus told me. I nodded and went into the back room. I grabbed my tray that I used for serving and went out into the craziness. I was a waiter. It was the second safest job. The first safest was the janitor who only cleans up the bathrooms and the bar every one day a month.
I walked up to the tables that looked empty and didn't have anything on them. I saw a table of a bunch of girls. I walked over to the table to ask them if they wanted anything to drink.
"We'll have 3 Bloody Mary's," One of the three girls said. I then turned around and was ready to walk away when I heard one of the girls say that I was cute. I blushed and quickly scurried to the bar. Once I got there, I asked the bartender that filled in for Samus for 3 Bloody Mary's and he was off. When he came back with them, I put them on the tray and brought them out to the three girls.
"Here you go," I said to them. They all laughed and started at me. The girl that told me the order hit the one on her right with her elbow.
"Um, what's your name?" The girl asked. She looked to be about my age. She was only 11? Then again, this is a Fragment place. No rules.
"My name is Jordy," I told her confidently. She then blushed and stood up. She grabbed my arm. She had a firm grasp.
"Come with me," She responded. She then took me to a corner in the back of The Beacon that was near the bathrooms. She then pushed me against the wall and gave me a little kiss. That was my first kiss that wasn't from my mom or dad. I then pushed her away.
