Chapter 1:
Today was like any other day I have been through this summer. That's the one thing I hate about it. It never gets too hot in Wolfhaven, a nice temperature is always the norm. IT's always the same endless routine every day. It never changed, and after awhile, I actually found myself wanting to get back to school.
I tied my long oddly colored hair back and felt my brindle tail brush against my calves. As you probably guessed, I'm not human. My people are called Wolfen. We have extended incisors and long wolf tails. We also have enhanced abilities and transform into wolves, 17 for males and 18 for females. I personally have another year to wait for my transformation.
I walked into my large, spacious and quickly changed into my warrior girl patrol outfit. It consisted of a medieval looking top that exposed my stomach, cargo shorts and combat boots. We had to wear this when patrolling the grounds, and protected the innocent Samaritans. We were always hunted for our tails and out abilities. Like with werewolves and vampires(Yes they exist) humans want to figure out what makes us tick. I frankly think it's the stupidest thing I have ever heard, but hey whatever right?
I tapped the tips of my shoes on my wood floor and headed out. I locked the door and started to walk to my post. I got the same weirded out looks I always got. Not only were my blue eyes far from the normal gold or auburn, I have the rarest color of fur you can get, Believe me brindle is not very common. I mean how many brindle wolves have you seen? That and I had lost my parents.
You see, with my people you are looked down upon for having no parental guidance. Not like I can help that though. I sighed and continued walking, only to find that this night was as uneventful as the last. Not that being attacked is a good thing, but having some action is a total rush. Maybe tomorrow will be better.
I went to bed and woke up the next morning completely awake, as usual. I stretched and got dressed in my casual clothes, making sure my tail didn't get caught as I pulled on my jeans and pulled my tail through the opening. It always annoyed me cause it was kinda like dressing a build- a -bear only it hurt a bit when I had to yank it through. I left my house and headed out to the Wolfhaven gate, only to be tackled to the ground with a loud thump.
"OOF! Dude!" I groaned.
"Mack ve to you too, Kara." My best friend Kalcifer said, using a typical Wolfen greeting.
"Geez, for someone whose name means timid, you sure aren't. Now vack kar(Get off)." I struggled to stand. He chuckled and stood up. I brushed myself off and playfully glared at him. "SO where ya headed?" He asked, stuffing his hands in his pockets.
"To see the gang." I answered. "Cool tell them I said hey." He said smiling, and walking off. My friends were creature just like me. Naomi was a witch with a bubbly personality, light green eyes and lavender hair. Marco is a shaggy looking werewolf, with brown eyes and sandy blonde hair and he could be a total perv. Matt is a vampire with a sweet disposition, blue eyes and light blonde hair. Katherine was the human, with crow black hair and brown eyes. Then there was me.
I met them at our hang out spot right by the school, and greeted them. Matt was holding Kat's hand and I winked at her and laughed when she turned bright scarlet. I went to go walk away when Naomi stopped me. "Nope. We're going to your place this time Kar."
"What? You have gotta be joking." I groaned. "Nope. No matter what the situation, we never go to your place. Come on Kara live a little."
I swallowed. "Fine, but I get to choose what we do." They all nodded enthusiastically. "We'll go to see a football game."
"What's so exciting about that?" Marco asked giving me a look.
"Believe me, you haven't seen football, until you see Wolfen football." I led them back to my home and directed them through the streets. I felt like a frickin' tour guide. Then we passed the popular people, they were some of the prettiest of out kind.
"Wow and I thought you were pretty". I heard Katherine mutter. Naomi elbowed her and she mumbled a 'what?' I shook of her comment. All mythical creatures were considered attractive to humans. In comparison to these people though, I was pretty plain looking.
I heard the girls giggling and that could only mean one thing. Emillio Atlas was in the building.(Yes, I know we aren't actually in a building). Sure enough he was there, training, with his shirt off. No wonder the girls were practically drowning in a puddle of drool. Emillio was considered attractive, even for a Wolfen. He had jet black hair, toned muscles and piercing traffic light green eyes.
He was from Australia and his parents moved here to fill in the alpha positions. He was the alpha's son, which apparently him even more irresistible. He was hot, don't get me wrong, and his accent was to die for, but he was the kind of person who thinks he's hot shit. I hate people like that. I looked over to see Naomi's jaw on the floor. He looked over and flashed her a movie star smile. She swayed a bit and looked like she was about to pass out.
I sighed and pulled her along and motioned for the rest of my friends to follow. They snickered and whispered several rude things in Wolfen. I scowled and wanted to give them a piece of my mind. Then I heard a male chuckle join in. Of course, Captain ass wipe(AKA Toilet paper) joined the party. I turned back and gave them death glares.
I gave them the you-have-no-idea-what-I'm-capable-of look and they winced a tad. I could easily pound them so hard there great grandchildren would feel it. They were Mortons (the Wolfen females her were to become housewives). I was a warrior, so I was definitely stronger.
I then turned my glare to Emillio and he look shocked. Clearly he was not used to people not falling at his feet. I didn't buy his little a-hole routine. He was probably a little whiny brat on the inside. I turned away and led my friends to the stadium.
Wolfen football is exciting. It's just like regular football except most of the males are changed already, so they can use their wolf forms to bite and claw their way through. We heal at a faster rate than humans, so not many of the usual rules apply. I could tell the gang enjoyed it, and Kal even joined us near the end. We said our farewells after the game and I headed home and went to sleep, happy to get out of patrol for that night.
