Chapter 2

Chapter 2:

            I woke up the next day completely refreshed. I was actually happy because today I wanted to try something new. but what? I eventually decided to head to the local coffee shop and I took a seat near the window.

            "Hey, Kara! What can I get you?" I heard Kal's younger sister Tammy ask.

            "Hey! Chat van de?" I asked how she was. " I am morto, good."

            "Cool beans. I'll have the usual, in the to-go cup." She nodded and went to get my coffee. I heard all the girls squeal. I groaned knowing Mr. Perfect was walking through the door. Tammy returned and put my cup down, not taking her eyes off of Emillio. I stood up and picked off my coffee, leaving the money on the table. "Bye Tam." I muttered and she just nodded. I rolled my eyes and headed for the door.

             I walked past a distracted Emillio and made a point to run into him. he was knocked off balance for a brief moment and glared at me. I smiled sweetly, not caring that he was pissed, and walked out. I headed to the training course to find Kalcifer running laps. He saw me and ran up, practically drenched in sweat.

            "Hey." He said out of breath. I tossed him the cup of coffee and he thanked me before starting to chug it.

            "NOT ALL OF IT!!!" I shouted, whining. He chuckled "Sorry." Before handing it back. His blonde hair was soaked in sweat and his tail brushed his legs furiously, trying to cool him off. I handed him a napkin and he looked at me puzzled. "What's this for?"

            "All your sweat stupid, it's gross." I said making a face.

            He scoffed."I'm offended."

            "You'll live." I smiled. He then grinned evilly. "What are you-" I started before he threw me over his shoulder and began running. I pounded on his back furiously and I saw him wince occasionally, but he kept running, "Where are we going?" I asked peering over his broad shoulder to see the lake. "OH no! No! No! No! No! NO!"

            "Yes." I heard him laugh. He then chucked  me in. I screamed and I landed with a huge splash. I swam to the surface and splashed Kalcifer. He was laughing so hard, he was rolling all over the ground. I scowled, and that only made him laugh harder I climbed out and shook my hair and tail.

            "Thanks a load Kal."I said. "Now I have to go to patrol wet." He laughed. Oh crud. I looked at the sun as it was heading towards the horizon. I forgot about patrol! His eyes grew large with mine."Shit." He muttered.

            I raced home as fast as I could, passing people who looked at me as if I was a lunatic. I hurriedly put on my clothes when I got home and rushed to my post. Emillio was there looking agitated. :What are you doing here?" I asked, knowing it was a dumb question. Being squad captain meant he had to cover for anyone who was gone.

            "You're late." he said through clenched teeth.

            "Wow, you stopped fluttering your eyelashes long enough to speak. And to little old' me? You shouldn't have." I retorted.

            "You little-"

            "Bitch, slut, weirdo, freak? Please choose one, I've heard them all before." I muttered. He raised a brow and the scowled. "I oughta give you a piece of my mind, but I don't fight girls." That sexist jerk face.

            "Is that a challenge?" I ground my teeth together. "Maybe." He said smirking. Just like that we were arguing in each other's faces.
