I'm not open to many people. I'm usually quiet, and I don't really like attention. So if I like you enough to show you the real me, you must be exceptional.
"No!" Albany screamed as she shot a ball of fire out of her palm at the attacker.
"It's okay, Albany. We were never meant to be together for eternity," Vincent breathed as he lay on the floor of their house, bleeding out.
"No, this can't be happening! Not now! Not when I'm pregnant with your babies!" Albany screamed with tears streaming down her face clutching him in her hands.
"We're going to have kids? You're pregnant?" Vincent asked with sadness in his eyes at knowing he would never watch them grow up.
"Yes, twins," Albany cried with her head on his chest, trying to figure out how to save him without killing the babies.
"It's okay, Baby. You'll be a great mother," Vincent smiled, wiping a tear from her face as she looked up at him.
"No, I can't let you die! We need you!" Albany yelled, fighting with Vincent.
"Let me go, raise the Twins the way we would have, and find love again," he replied calmly, stroking her face.
"I won't ever love another man the way I love you," Albany cried.
"Yes, you will. I love you, Albany," Vincent whispered, kissing her one last time.
"I love you, too," she whispered back as she watched the light fade out of his eyes.
A shrill scream of anguish ripped from her lips as she held Vincent's body to hers. She sat there clutching onto him until the police showed up and pulled her off of him. As Albany sat outside, after they had gotten the evidence off her, she silently watched them come in and out of the home she had built with Vincent. There was no emotion on her face save the storm that brewed within her eyes. She had planned a romantic evening for the two of them so that she could tell him she was pregnant with their babies, but it had all gone to hell when John Doe had shown up. She didn't know who he was, but she knew that he was there to hurt them; however, she didn't move quick enough and lost the love of her life in the process.
"Albany!" Rivera's voice exclaimed, cutting through her thoughts, bringing Albany back to reality.
"Hey," Albany replied sadly, not looking up from the spot she was staring at intently.
"Oh, thank the gods, you're okay," Rivera breathed, hugging her best friend, "Where's Vincent?"
"Dead," Albany whispered as she felt the tears threaten to spill.
"What do you mean he's dead?" Rivera asked, looking at Albany with wide eyes.
"The guy killed him before I could stop him," she sniffed, looking down at her blood-covered hands.
"Did he at least know about the twins before he died?" Rivera asked, having gone to the doctor with her that morning.
"Yeah, but I don't know if I can do this on my own," Albany sniffed, looking up at her best friend with fear in her eyes.
