Jackson-
I stood there frozen for a few minutes, the tingling on my mouth starting to fade. I heard Lincoln come out of the trees clapping with a smirk on his face.
“Bravo, my friend.” He laughed as I walked up to him and hugged him for a few seconds.
“Shut up and go find Tin.” I laughed as he glared at me before laughing.
“It’s good to have you back Gray. How is she?”
“Who... Amelia? Well I reckon she’s doing just fine now.” I wiggled my eyebrows at him while I played along, just like with Tin, until they both finally admitted they had feelings for each other. Lincoln punched my arm as we started walking into the trees, towards the gates of the castle.
“All right, all right. No need to get physical. Tin’s doing just fine as well. She said she was just dying for your delightful company.” I raised my voice as I mocked Tin, and started to swoon, resting one hand on my forehead, the other across my heart, and batted my eyelashes. He slapped the back of my head as I grinned at him. “Seriously dude, you need to decide on your feelings for my sister, because this whole me being a messenger thing is starting to creep me out. Just go see her.”
We walked in silence for a bit through the trees. “All right, Jackson, what’s going on.” I turned and looked at Lincoln, and running my hand through my hair I sighed.
“It’s, it just feels so good to have her back where she belongs, but I’m afraid she’s going to disappear again, and honestly, I don’t think I can handle that again. If she goes, I have to either follow her and give up this amazing kingdom, or give her up.” I started fiddling with the leather chords wrapped around my wrists.
“Gray, she’s not going anywhere. Can’t you see it in her eyes, she remembers this place, and you know that if she didn’t want to be here again, she wouldn’t be remembering.” Lincoln stated, putting a hand on my shoulder. I guess he’s right, I have seen her love for the woods blooming, especially from the first time I brought her back here.
“I know, but, I just wish she would remember how much she loves me.”
Amelia-
I walked back inside my new home, and picked up my bag, dumping it’s contents on the soft feather bed. Immediately, my eyes were drawn to my blinking cell phone. I had several missed calls from Dad. Uh oh. I quickly called him, ignoring his numerous voice mails for now.
“Amelia, where are you?” The first words from my dad’s mouth. How was I supposed to explain where I was?
“Uhm, hi dad. I uhm, met a friend today, and I went to her house for the day, and we just got distracted, and because it’s dark out now, and she invited me to stay the night, I thought it’d be okay...” I hated lying to dad. Especially since he’s a minister, it’s like lying to God. The phone was silent for a couple minutes.
“Okay, I believe you Amelia. Just come home tomorrow then. I have a surprise for you. Love you.” I felt a pang in my gut at betraying his trust...but he believed me, or at least wasn’t questioning my lies.
“Love you too, dad. Night.” We hung up and I tossed my phone back in my bag. I threw my change purse in after it, as well as my sketchbook. The last thing remaining was the journal. I left it on my bed, and walked over to the looking glass. Regrettably, I pulled out the flowers that were woven in, and carefully undid the pins. I washed my face in the basin in the next room, and brushed my hair. I then walked over to the wardrobe and pulled out some softer clothes. I slipped on an airy night dress and settled on the bed, and began reading:
