Two-Bit and I both flopped tiredly onto my bed, leaning against the wall.
"When were you discharged?" I ask him, curiously.
"Three days ago I think, Siobhan, Steve and Dal were all let out the day after the accident. Do you know how Evie is?" he explained.
"She doesn't seem too good, we were sharing a room. I tried to speak to her everyday but she just lay there with her eyes shut, and the nurses were all miserable,"
"You know I tried to visit you everyday right?" he says.
"Really? How come they never let you in, I could've killed someone I was so bored."
"I don't know, they said something about contaminatin' Evie or something. Your grand folks are alright, you know?" he says. "Spent a lot of time with them these last few days,"
I feel a bright red blush well up in my cheeks. "Yeah, they love you," I laughed.
He caught me off guard suddenly, planting a warm kiss on my lips. This only increased my blush.
It didn't last long, it was filled with affection rather than lust; something I'd never seen before.
He told me about the few things that had happened in between the small period of time between when he was let out and when I was let out. Johnny had been staying with him; Ponyboy got an A in his assignment; Dal had already been accused of something by the cops -which, (a rare occurrence) he didn't actually do.
Nan came upstairs about twenty minutes later, brandishing a plate of sandwiches. Sometimes I wonder if her thoughts only revolve around sandwiches. Probably. Two-Bit thanked her politely and I briefly wondered what he meant when he said my grandparents were alright. What had nan and grandad told him? Oh god, I already feel embarrassed
