A little lonely on our farm

I woke up to the sounds of our rooster. I got out of bed and slowly started walking down the stairs. Every step I took the stairs creaked underneath me.

"Well good morning," said my mother "you're up early."

"You know, it's my birthday and..."

"And what." Said my mother sarcastically.

"I was wondering if I could get that thing that we have been talking about... you know."

"A horse" questioned my mother.

"I promise that I will take care of him/her."

"Well...ok"

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." I screamed.

I ran straight up the stairs, grabbed my shoes, ran back downstairs, and then to the barn. As soon as I got to the barn I flung open the barn doors. Being as excited as I was I ran to the only stall we have and began to clean it out. Since we did not have any animals besides chickens, we kept our tools in the stall.

"And what are you doing in here?" Laughed my dad.

"Just cleaning."

"Your mom told me already Jess."

"Oh she did, did she?" "And what did she say?"

"Well all she said was that you have talking about getting a horse, and she told you yes."

"Is that ok with you too?" I asked.

"As long as you promise to take care of the horse and get he/she exercised than we should no problems." He smiled.

"When is the soonest you think that I can go and get my horse?" I asked impatiently.

"Well, are you free tomorrow at noon?"

"Trust me dad, if I'm getting a horse I will be ready at any time."

"Ok then it's set for tomorrow, just make sure your ready at noon."

"Don't worry I will."

For the rest of the day I cleaned the stall, putting everything in but food and water. Of course I had to go inside and eat and then before I knew it I had to go to bed. All I know is that I could not wait to wake up in the morning and finally get a horse. My dream had finally come true. Ever since I was little a horse was all I could think about.
