"Adrien, are you alright?" Nino looked strangely at his best friend.
"Just fine," Adrien answered in an agitated voice.
Truth was, he wasn't fine at all. His forehead probably had frown lines, his mouth hurt from gritting his teeth so much and he had just broke his 6th pencil that day.
Things really weren't fine.
"Dude, I know somethings up, have I done something to upset you?" He paused for a moment,"was it because I went out with Alya yesterday instead of hanging out with you after school, cause if it was I'm re-"
"No no, It's not you."
"Then what is it, bro you can tell me," Nino waited for an answer but Adrien just pressed his lips tighter together.
Nino assumed he wasn't going to get an answer and was about to persist on when the bell rang, and the rampaging wave of students hurried to get out of the classroom.
Nino waited outside hopefully to catch Adrien and continue their conversation and soon enough he watched as Adrien trudged through the door.
Nino thought it was a waste of time to badger him about it anymore, and that he'd be the same-old, lovable Adrien tomorrow.
Just as he was about to walk home he noticed Adrien stop and look up. This caught Nino's interest.
He was staring at Marinette who was running down the steps and waving at a tall, tanned boy about their age with floppy brown hair. The boy waved back and Marinette fell into his arms for a long and loving hug.
Nino returned his gaze to Adrien whose fists were clenched into a tight ball. Adrien continued to stare until Marinette and the boy walked of around the corner.
'So that's what he's upset about' Nino thought.
Nino, not really knowing what else to do, proceeded to walk home and hopefully find out more tomorrow.
One thing Nino didn't realise was that he wasn't the only one who noticed the new guy and by the next day everyone was talking about the "new couple".
Earlier that day
Adrien was happy that morning, everything seemed to be going great.
There wasn't an akuma attack in patrol that night, meaning he had a whole 2 hours with Ladybug, there wasn't any modelling jobs after school so he could probably just hang out with Nino. Speaking of Nino, yesterday he went out with Alya and even if it did mean that his plans to hang out with him were cancelled, he really liked Alya and Nino together.
But everything was crushed the moment he saw him.
As he neared the school he saw Marinette and ... a guy. They were holding hands.
Adrien stopped in his tracks and scrunched up his face, he watched at they chatted and laughed along.
"What's wrong with you..." Plagg jumped out of his pocket," are i see. I honestly don't understand what you humans bother jealousy over people, the only time I get jealous is over cheese."
" Plagg I'm not jealous!"
"Mmmmm sure you're not."
