Tori threw rock after rock at Dan's window, it was early Saturday morning and Tori had woken up early to spend the day with her best friend Dan. Now, don't be confused by the masculine name, Dan was a girl, well.. debatably. Dan lived with her father and her older brother Nick, but we'll get to them later.
Dan was your typical teen, she stayed up late and NEVER wanted to get up in the morning. She hated school and never did her homework. Dan was a complete tomboy, always wearing snap backs and hoodies and if you saw her in a skirt or dress it was either a dare or she was forced. She had short brown hair, green eyes and freckles, she completely objected to makeup but, in truth, she didn't need any.
Tori however was the perfect student, straight A's and 100% attendance. She always had Dans homework done, with a few mistakes so it was believable. Tori loved food and you can bet that if there was a buffet she'd be the first one there. But she wasn't fat, far from! The walk to school everyday made sure of that. She had long black hair, brown eyes, complemented by her glasses, which were her favourite colour, teal, and always wore long shirts that could pass for a dress.
Anyway, where were we? Ah, that's right, rocks at the window. Well, knowing that Dan would probably be sleeping in and her phone would be on silent, this was the only way Tori could wake her lazy friend. Dan's room was at the back of the house, but they had a gate leading to their garden from the front and Tori had been given keys to it a couple of years ago. She'd been at it for around ten minutes and had made herself comfortable on the old wooden bench when she saw the curtains shift.
'Finally' she thought, she stood up, straightened herself out and dropped the rocks in her hand. "You took your time" she said as her friend opened her window.
"Well I suppose that's what a bottle of Jack does to ya" Said Dan. "Gimme a sec" she disappeared for a second before throwing a black duffle bag out of the window, putting on a batman snap back and grey hoodie and climbed out and down the drainpipe, that was conveniently placed by her window.
"A bottle of Jack? Really?" Tori picked up the duffle bag and slung it over her shoulder. "Won't your dad notice? "
"Nah" Dan waved it off, "he's got plenty of 'em, he won't miss one bottle"
The pair of them headed down the hill where Dans house was to the park nearby. Tori placed the bag on a bench near the parks lake, and sat next to it, with a space next to her for Dan.
"Do you think Nick'll find out?" She asked
"Dunno" Dan picked up a rock and skipped it across the lake, "He stayed at Rachel's place last night anyway, I'll probably get a lecture at most" she retired to the space next to Tori, took off her hat and ran a hand through her hair. "It's cold, shall we get going?"
"Sure" Tori stood up and reached for the duffle.
"I'll take my bag" Dan held her hand out. Tori reluctantly gave it to her and the two carried on their route without so much as a glance behind them.
