Once I walked the stairs of death and reached my apartment, I check my cellphone, which I had to leave at home because butler dude, who's name I never heard now that I think of it, for texts. I have a notification that someone transferred money to my work account; it seems that mister Holtzclaw is a man of his word after all. I also have a text of my friend Aly. Her full name is Nathalie but no one calls her that. I mean her parents do but they don't count. We met in high school as we were both huge geeks and loved reading. We were kinda forced to be friends as we both didn't fit in a hundred percent. She texted me about hanging out, which would probably lead to us, on her couch, watching Netflix. And eventually a food fight because we're both children. I don't have anything better to do and since her text made it seem like she'll curse me (again- and I didn't even deserve it the first time!) if I don't show up at her place soon, I better go over there.
''Aly! Hurry up it's raining!''
'' Well it took you ages to get here so don't complain that it took me a while to get to the door. I was doing.... stuff.'' My short brown haired friend said after she had opened the door.
'' You're the human embodiment of laziness unless you really really have to do something and I know you better than that you were Netflixing and I swear if you watched our show without me I will find a spell to turn you into a frog. Now move aside and let me in as I'm getting soaked out here.'' Walking inside and trying- and failing- to kick off my combat boots in the hope they'll be dry when I leave here, I see that she had indeed been watching Netflix. I know my friend so well.
'' What took you so long anyways?'' Aly asked.
''I was finishing a job, the one with that weird rich warlock, Holtzclaw. It's also how I got the fabulous bruise covering half of my face,'' I answer her. Aly looks at me like she's concerned about me, which I know she is. She thinks I'm gonna get myself seriously hurt if I keep going like this with all the 'dangerous' jobs I keep taking. I know she means well though. ''Let's just go watch Doctor Who whilst I can maybe get a little more dry, as someone let me stand outside for 9 years. Do you have any idea how dramatic my hair was this morning and how much worse it'll get now that it's wet?'' I say to her, referring to the red mess on my head. Aly just looked at me like I was being overdramatic. Which I'm absolutely not because my hair is very important and she just doesn't know.
''Just get your ass to the couch redhead. I'll get us some snacks. If it ever stops raining, do you wanna go buy some witchy stuff with me? I'm all out of candles and herbs.'' Aly says.
''Yes ma'am. Be sure to get some gummies and please don't get hot snacks only as you'll get me killed one day'' I yell at her whilst moving to her couch.
After a few episodes (could have been seasons I'm never sure how much I watch when Aly and I are binge watching) we head out to the mall. When I say mall I don't mean your average shopping center with a Starbucks and a Mac, I mean witch mall. It's inside the normal shopping center but it's hidden and you have to know where to look and who to talk to if you want to get in. But Aly and I go here often so the shop owners know us and what we usually get. It's a small community and we just need certain things often. I, for example, have considered making my own herb garden because of the massive amount of locator spells I use, and for some really specific ones you need a lot of herbs. And don't even get me started on potions. Aly however, usually does mostly elemental spells. She's a cop and she arrests both normal humans and supernatural creatures, using her enchantments if she arrests a supernatural creature and things go wrong. But because of the fact that she sometimes has to work with humans, she sometimes casts sleep enchantments or spells similar like that into wooden charms so she could trigger them with a mumble and use the spell, to make sure her human companion won't notice it. But with all the spells we use, we both need a lot of supplies and we had to get them often. Some of the shop owners would even call us partners in crime because we got similar supplies a lot of the time. Aly and Tori, partners in crime.
So I decided to give you guys a long chapter this time! How did you lot like it? Don't worry, our favorite hunters will be joining us soon. I just need a few chapters to get the story going so please be patient with me. Until next time!
