Finally, you grabbed the last box of Easter decorations which you had to carry to the other boxes into your basement. With a lazy look at the clock you saw that it was almost six and sighted. You swiftly walked to the basement door when you suddenly heard silent noises coming from behind it. Curiosity being one of your weakest traits, you turned the door knob and slowly walked down the stairs.
Silence.
It was dark here. The light was broken, but you had no bulbs in your apartment to change it. Not that you minded, your eyes adjusted quick enough to allow you to see your surroundings.Frozen in your steps, you stared at a silhouette of a tall man you knew all to well. A strange mixture of joy and fear were overflowing you. Nearly paralysed by confusion, you dropped the box from your grip, only to be scared further by the intimidating silhouette of him which reacted to the crashing sound. Your muscles stiffened because of the sudden movement.
With a swish of his cape the man in black, Kylo Ren, walked towards you. You hesitated for a moment, pulling in a quick breath as he stops in front of you.
Kylo was silent.
Your eyes shot up to see him appraising you. You bit back your fear and stared into the slit of his helmet, trying not to seem too afraid or confused.
"H-hello?", you croaked.
There was a crackling from under his mask and a low metallic voice asked for your name. You gave it softly, making sure to add a 'sir', before you cast your eyes back down. You didn't look up until you heard his quiet footsteps retreating away from your shaking form.Nervous you let your gaze wander through the basement. Why was he here? He's not even real! Your heart made a small jump when you discovered a broken plastic box of an action figure. It was empty. Your features skewed together. Not only was it lacking a plastic figurine, but also wasn't it where you originally placed it.
There was no possible way the box would be so damaged when no one else lived here except you. Frantic flew your gaze around the entire room. Where is the figure? You checked every spot without success."This can't be true...", you whispered. This was all too fucked up.
"I know."
Was he reading your mind?
With a sudden burst of adrenaline you rushed towards the door, but before you could turn the corner a force stopped you in your steps and applied pressure to your body which you desperately tried to fight off. Quick, calm footsteps approached you from behind and moved around to stop in front of you.
"Are you afraid of me?"
Your eyes flicked up to his helmet and then looked away.
"No."
"You're not a very good liar."After a few minutes of silence between the two of you, his hand rose and hovered above your face. For a second nothing happened, but then you felt the pain at the back of your head. You tried to turn away as the pain increased to a stabbing which caused you to wince.
Memories suddenly rushed trough your mind.
"G-get out!", you pressed through your lips. The pain stopped and Kylo stood back watching you.
"Don't panic. I'm not going to hurt you again...at least not physically."
Despite the fact that he tried to calm you, the sentence just increased your panic. You let out a breath and force a small smile in his direction.
You didn't felt comfortable standing there in the middle of the hallway, so you decided to move.
"Follow me", you said and walked without another word right to your living room. Kylo tilted his head, but soon joined you on the couch."Um..you know you don't have to wear the helmet around me. I mean I know how you look..."
He remained quiet beneath his mask and you lowered your eyes. There was still plenty of space between Kylo and you. He was silent for a long while as you just sat there and waited. You thought his glare was not as piercing as it was when he stood first in front of you, but it could simply have been because you were getting used to the helmet. You even liked the design.
You heard a sudden thud against your table and looked towards him.
Kylo had taken off his mask.
Your eyes widened at the sight, seeing him stroke his hand through his black hair. He turned to you, possibly feeling your eyes on him. You tried your best to keep your mind blank as his dark amber eyes looked straight into yours.
"Thank you.."
Silence again."It's kind of nice to meet you. I never thought something like this would haven..um..I can't believe you're real..living..breathing..", you stumbled nervously as he made himself comfortable on your couch.
You tried to avoid the awkward silence, but it seemed Kylo didn't want to talk much. You focused your gaze on your hands on your lab, playing with the edge of your shirt. Kylo remained silent. Maybe he hadn't know how to answer you. You hadn't blamed him since you didn't know the answer yourself. Right now your mind was just a racing, confused mess. You continued to wait for a response.
And waited and waited.
You were about to say his name until you saw him with his eyes shut. You slid softly closer to him, wondering if he was asleep. Is he made out of flesh and bones like you? In a matter of seconds your back was pressed against the pillows laying on the couch, Kylo above you with a death grip on your wrists.
The anger that seemed to radiate off him shocked all your thoughts out of your mind and you let yourself sink deeper into the couch. Some of your furniture was crashing with loud noises against the walls causing you to flinch. Kylo destroyed half of your living room without even looking at it.
"What you just said..thought...really pisses me off. I should kill you.", he finally spoke with a deep and chilling voice sending shiffers down your back.
His face was directly in front of you, his eyes brimmed with anger.
"You locked me into your basement. In a plastic box. You..a measly human! Why?"
His jaw tensed after he spit the words out. You laid there in shock, unable to say something. Warm breath brushed against your blushing skin.
"Tell me!", he demanded with his menacing voice. You looked shyly up at Kylo. His hands were clutched tightly into fists next to each side of your head.
"I-Im sorry. I didn't know...I mean it wasn't my intention to make you feel this way!" You were honest. How were you supposed to know your beloved plastic figure suddenly comes to live?
Kylo's body started to shake in anger, mostly his hands. You stared at the superior and stood completely still with a terrified look on your face. Ignoring the sweet smelling blackish hair that touched your cheek because of his movement was hard enough."Being so fragile, weak...I never wanted to feel this again. I never wanted to experience any kind of weak feelings! And still..."
You felt like an idiot. A completely rude, clumsy, anxious idiot. Not only had you made him mad, but also had you hurt an already broken man. You took a deep breath and gathered all your courage.
"Your failures do not define you Kylo. Accept your feelings. Everybody feels like that sometimes. You're still the amazing fighter I believe in."
Soft comforting words escaped your lips, calming him with each syllable.
"It is a sign of weakness, accepting your mistakes. And I made a lot! How can I full fill my destiny when I'm such a fool?", he cut you off.
You sighted thoughtfully, but then mumbled: "Sometimes you have to burn in order to rise from your ashes. Stronger. Like a phoenix."Without a warning, Kylo took you in a bone-crashing embrace, pushing your smaller figure deeper into the sofa.
A surprised gasp escaped your mouth. Slowly you raised one hand to ran your fingers gingerly trough his locks. His breaths were equal and steady now.
"I'm being torn apart.", you felt him barely whisper in your ear.
It took you a minute to think of an answer. You really wanted to help the desperate Knight of Ren.
"We've all got both light and dark inside of us. What matters is the part we choose to act on, that's who we really are."You knew there was much turmoil going on inside of his head, because of his conflict and the events in the past. All you wanted was to release some of his pain to support him. No, you needed to be there for Kylo. He was alone and had nobody.
"Kylo.."
"Mhm?"
He lifted his head and tilted it slightly. His brown eyes seemed to melt into yours. You were sure now that you didn't want him to be alone any more. And he needed to know that.
"I'm not going to leave you."
It was only a whisper and barely audible, but Kylo's eyes lighted up for a second. His cold glove carefully caressed your cheek which made you blush again.
Never had you imagined this to happen.
