I woke up the next day feeling some little hands shaking me awake. I sighed not wanting to open my eyes and live another day of nightmare.
"Lily! Come on I know you're awake!"
"Carl! Leave me be."
I said without real conviction. The boy chuckled and for a moment I thought he had left. That was until I felt a heavy weight on my stomach and heard the same kid laughing his head out. I opened my eyes suddenly to see Carl sitting on my stomach.
"You little thug!" I screamed jokingly and grabbed him before tickling him restlessly. Carl exploded with laughers begging me to stop.
"Please Lily! No! No! Stop!"
"Oh yeah?! Why should I? Huh?"
I teased the young boy but stopped and hugged him.
"Because I'm a cute and innocent child?"
Carl answered with his best innocent eyes. I chuckled and raised an eyebrow at him.
"You? Innocent? Let me question that statement."
He laughed with me and got up to leave the tent I was sharing with Glenn. The Asian boy knew better than to wake me up in the morning. It was always too early for me anyway. I stretched my arms and yawned before changing my clothes and leave the tent. I approached Carol rubbing my face with both of my hands, tiredness evident on my features. I was glad I didn't have a mirror to see the state I was in.
"Morning..."
"Good morning sweetheart." Carol greeted me and handed me a plate of... Squirrel... Again. Huh!
"How are you doing Lily?"
"S'fine Carol, I'm just tired. And... I don't wanna tell Daryl about Merle. Why do I have to do it? And don't say that he won't get mad at me because we both know it's bullshit."
She laughed and shook her head.
"Don't worry, while you were sleeping Rick decided to tell Daryl when he'll be back."
I let out a sigh of relief and nodded my head. I looked down at the meat in my plate and grabbed a piece trying to think about something else while shoving it in my mouth. I looked around, things were calm today until...
"Mommy!!"
We heard Carl and Sophia's voices scream near the end of the camp. Almost already in the woods. I took of sprinting in their direction with the others. When we arrived they hugged their mothers hiding their faces away from a kneeling walker. The monster was eating a deer making disgusting sounds that made me gag. I raised my hand to grab one of my swords but remembered that I had left it in my tent. Crap! I only had my knife. I took it out of it's holster and look at the others my eyes locking with Ricks. He looked puzzled and that's when I noticed the arrows plunged deep into the deer. Daryl...
The men then attacked the walker trying to kill it by beating him without success. I sighed and tried to tell them to aim for the head but they didn't listen. Dale finally chopped the monster's head off and it landed inches away from my feet. Gross. We all looked at each other, the men panting because of the heat and the effort they had just made. We suddenly heard sounds in the bushes near by, Rick pointed his Colt at the figure that emerged from it.
"Son of a bitch!"
'Welcome back Daryl Dixon.' I thought, rolling my eyes and crossing my arms over my chest.
"That's ma deer! Look at it all nibbled on by this disease bearing, motherless, poxy bastard!"
The man said while kicking the walker on the floor with each word. I sighed a little too loud because Daryl looked up at me for a second. I raised an eyebrow silently asking 'what?'. The man scoffed and turned his eyes back to the walker.
