Awards were served and the speeches were complete. The guest speaker had wooed the crowd. Mr. Jason King, the young entrepreneur of King Building Group had Diamond's attention. From her seat she noticed he was not wearing a wedding band. She wanted to know more about this construction company that was redeveloping her city.

Small talk started at the table and Diamond excused herself. She thought this was the perfect opportunity to work the room and bump into Mr. King. Drinks were being served on the opposite of the room. She made her way to the alcoholic beverages area.

Right has she was about to start her very own small talk with Mr. King, other individuals had bombarded him. They made eye contact. Diamond smiled and he winked his eye. In ten seconds, Diamond had stripped that black tuxedo of his body. With her drink in hand, she walked back towards Tiffany. He watched her all the way back to her seat. When she returned, Diamond noticed Tiffany had a look of discern. Diamond took her seat.

"I don't see anything wrong with it. It's not the child's fault." The woman on the right of Tiffany said.

"Well I tell you what. It wouldn't be my fault either. He decided to step out. While he stepped out he knew the consequences. Therefore, he would have an ultimatum." The elderly lady sitting to right of Diamond responded.

"You know I straddled the fence. I would have to be put in the situation before I can say what I would or wouldn't do." The woman sitting directly across from Diamond pleaded, she continued to fix her eyes on Diamond.

"Let me say this and hear me out." the elderly woman at the table that sat next to Diamond cleared her throat and pointed as she began to speak, "He simply has to man up. If I tell him that his kid is not welcomed in my house, it's on him to leave and go somewhere so he can raise my children and the child he had out there. I was content being chosen over the child, but him deciding to neglect his own blood over an ultimatum I gave him, was on him. Me letting him stay is forgiving him enough for what he has done. I don't need to see my hurt prancing around in front of me."

Tiffany couldn't stomach to look at Diamond. She hoped that Diamond didn't think that her co-workers were speaking on something she said about her. They were speaking on all the controversy that was plaguing in the media. Kerry Washington was sleeping with the married President, Fitz, and Gabrielle Union new character continued to sleep with a married man after being approached by his wife.

Although Diamond remained at the table mentally she escaped and went to the living room where her and her mother sat and watched the network most known as the television for women, Lifetime. She'd never seen her story on the network, but she wondered how it would play out, if it ever aired.

"Mom where is my daddy. Every time there were donuts for dad day, Uncle Derrick's there." the young Diamond inquired this often. Diane would send her younger brother whenever the school functions required a father's participation.

Diamond was not prepared for the response her mother was soon to give. During her freshman year of high school the assignment was finding out why your parents came up with your name. Diamond came in while her mother blasted Bob Marley. Interrupting her reggae session Diane cut the music down to answer the question.

Diamond cried, as she learned that her father was, Dr. Thomas Graham the top African-American surgeon in the state of Missouri and she discovered he didn't die in any war. Her mother pulled out countless newspapers articles. Diamond sat and read all about his accolades, accomplishments and family life. She couldn't help but notice the resemblance. She was a splitting image of her father. He was the reason that, she and her mother, lived in an affluent area, of West County and she attended a private Catholic school. She was not on any scholarships like the other minorities. That was one of the many attributes that she and Tiffany shared.
