(Kylie's POV)

"Who is that Sarah? Did Ky even tell you of this person."

"It's a new friend of her's, they were walking netflix, I guess they fell asleep."

"Yeah, but what is she doing here? Why is she so...Colorful?"

"Honey, don't judge, she actually seems very sweet. Kylie seems to like her alot. Look, You and Kyle go set the table and I'll wake them up"

"Yeah, whatever. I want to meet this girl, though."

the voices stop for a second and suddenly a soft hand touches me, "I know you're up, so c'mon"

"How do you always know?" I question in a raspy voice, clear that I had only recently woken up.

"I'm your  mother. Now. c'mon, wake up your friend, I'm sure he parents are worried about her. Then come down to dinner. Five minutes ands we'll start without you."

"Ok..." I mumble, sitting up and wiping my eyes in a childlike manner.

Mom leaves the room and suddenly Hailey pops up.

"Is she gone?"

I giggle, "She just said to call your parents and come down to dinner."

"Oh, shit!" She just and reaches for her pocket.

Pressing a few buttons and pausing for a bit she finally speaks, "Hey dad!....yeah...I know, I'm sorry, I fell asleep... I know.... Yeah....Well they wanted to know if I can stay for dinner..... Yeah....But that means you can Paul can go out.... Yeah, you wanted to eat theres since we got here....I'll manage.... Ok....Love youzzzz" She giggles and then looks to me.

"So, what's for dinner?"

(Hailey's POV)

We both silently crept downstairs and towards what I as assuming was the kitchen.

"Hey mom, dad, this is Hailey."

I smile and wave shyly.

"Well, hello Hailey, I have to say, I was very interested in meeting you. You're the second person my daughter has ever brought home."

"Dad, stop." She whines, clearly embarrassed.

We all sit down and I notice a boy about Kylie's age.

"Oh, hi, I'm Hailey"

"Kyle, Kylies twin brother."

My jaw drops.

"Twin?! But you're so tiny and cute! You can't be her age!"

Everyone looks at me strangely and he blushes.

"I was almost a girl, if only..." He trails off. I snicker to this.

"Son, that's enough. You know I don't allow that talk in my house."

Everyone goes quiet.

"Uhm, so, the dinner looks good, ma'am."

"Oh, just call me Sarah."

"Oh ok, the dinner looks good.... Sarah."

"Thank you,  Hailey. So, tell us about yourself."

"Ok, well I'm 17 and I'm from New York. My dad wanted to move here to be closer to his mother. She fell ill a few months ago so we decided to spend time with her."

"Oh, I'm so sorry about your grandmother."

'Thank you , but I mean, it's not like I really know her or anything. I barely even know my dads." I say casually.

Kylies father pauses, fork almost in mouth, eyes as wide as marbles.

"Dads?" He mumbles out.

"Oh yeah,  they adopted me a little over a year ago. Really great people."

"But... They're sinners... Do they really allow children to be around that kind of influence?"

I swallow hard and look to Kylie. She bows her head, not meeting my eyes.

"Uhm, dad, can we not talk about this during dinner?"

"Honestly, no matter how much 'sin' they live in their amazing people and they took me in and loved me when no one else did. So, I would  would very much appreciate it if you didn't bad mouth my parents." I speak proudly and await a reaction.

No matter how bad these stupid bible thumpers think my parents sexuality is, I will forever stand by them as long as i live. Even if they threw me back into the system today, I would forever thank them for giving me what I needed all my life. No one will disrespect such amazing people.

"I'm going to excuse myself. Nice meeting you." Her father excuses himself and walked away.

Her mother looks around frantically and rubs her hand together.

"Uhm, let's say grace. Kyle would you?"

I zone out as they do this and I take the time to scan the room.

Paintings of jesus and crosses and a huge painting of the last supper hangs over us. A chill runs up my spine and I close my eyes.

Religion is so stupid.

"Uhm.. You ok?" A soft tapping starts on my hand.

"Oh, yeah sorry, I guess I zoned out, my apologies."

"Do you not pray at home?" Her mother questions.

"Uhm, Paul does, But Mark doesn't, We're atheist. Uhm, not that I completely disagree with religion, but I guess I just can't believe it completely."  I say, trying not to upset another one of Kylies family members.

"Well, it's nice that god is present with at least one of your family members. Also, don't mind Robert, I think he just takes this thing too seriously. I'm pretty sure the only book he's ever finished is the bible."

Everyone at the table giggles and soon we all dig in.

By the time everyone is done, It's pretty late and I just finished the dished with Sarah.

"Thank you so much again, and are you sure you don't want a ride home? I really don't mind."

"Yeah, I'm sure. I like the fresh air out here"

She smiles and exits the kitchen.

"Well, good news is I think she likes you. Bad news, my dad clearly does not."

"Can't get em all I guess. But, I really should leave, it's late and I needa get home before dads do."

"Ok, no problem. seeya."

"Yeah, seeya tomorrow. If something happens call me."

"Yes mother."

We both giggle and suddenly the air grows ten times warmer than before.

"Ok, uhm, goodnight."

I didn't even notice we were by the door, until she was somehow opening it for me.

She waves and suddenly I'm out the door on my way home.

so, I was gonna make this longer and just switch POV's, but then I got lazy and decided to just make a lot of short chapters. So yeah, Sarah and Robert are Kylie's parents. I have yet to think of a last name though, so I don't know.

Sorry to anyone who is religious and may be offended by my word choice. But, clearly if you guys were super religious you wouldn't be reading this so I doubt I'm really apologizing to anyone. But yeah, until next time!
