Cheren hadn't realised that before the day ended he'd be forced against his will on two occasions: the first, when Touko had demanded a battle and the second, whatever nonsense was happening now.

"I really don't agree with such childish practices."

Despite his protests, Touko kept a firm hold on Cheren's right arm and Bianca did the same with his left.

"Grow up, specsy. You're only required to act sentimental for a few seconds." Touko once again attempted to pull her dark haired friend forwards, but he blatantly refused, feet planted firmly on the ground.

"I will not!"

Touko huffed, while Bianca released Cheren's left arm, staring at him with eyes expressing deflated hope. "I thought taking our first step on Route 1 together was a good idea. Don't you want to have first experiences with your friends to look back on?"

Hesitating at the blonde's disappointment, the young male massaged his forehead with defeat. "Fine, but only this once."

"That's the spirit!" Grabbing their friend's arms, Touko and Bianca marched forward triumphantly with a disgruntled Cheren as hostage. When they reached Route 1, they let him go, giggling at his astonished expression.

The dark haired male glared at his companions. "That was extremely degrading and immature." Sighing, he suddenly grinned, catching both females by surprise.
"There's Professor Juniper. Let's go."

Exchanging looks, Touko and Bianca beamed back.

"Okay."

Hearing human conversation, a noise N would have been glad to never listen to again, he peered down from his perch in an oak tree, searching for the source of the sound. His cloudy-grey eyes landed on a small group consisting of an adult in a white coat and three teenagers, gathered amongst the tall grass. It appeared the woman in the white coat was teaching the teenagers, and curiosity inclined for him to listen in.

"In order to successfully catch a Pokémon, you must first battle them and tire them out. A healthy Pokémon is much harder to catch, and by battling the wild Pokémon you are demonstrating your strength. If a Pokémon is impressed by the strength of your Pokémon, they may wish to become strong under your training as well, and so are more likely to willingly allow themselves to be caught."

'A Pokémon allowing itself to be caught?' N couldn't believe it. One of his dear friends wanting to be caught, and therefore submitting themselves to a lifetime of confinement?

Whilst pondering what the woman had said, N noticed her hand out devices to the teenagers that he had become all too familiar with, since they were everywhere in the Unova region. The humans' portable prisons for Pokémon: pokéballs. Narrowing his eyes, he watched silently as the group gradually dispersed, starting with the adult who was closely followed by two of the teenagers. Before they left, they mentioned something about a competition to see who could catch the most Pokémon to the third, a brunette with her hair in a messy ponytail. She waved them off as they left, immediately sending out an Oshawott once they were gone. The pair then began to scale the area as if they were searching for something.

N decided to investigate further.

"Find any yet, Oki?"

Touko's Oshawott replied in monotone. "Osha. Oshaaawott."

Moaning in annoyance, the hot-headed brunette dumped herself on a nearby log. "Where are you, wild Pokémon? I'm a nice trainer, I swear! Aren't I, Oki?"
