Destiny

Chapter 4

"I'd like to take you out sometime," he said. I could see a tinge of pink in his cheeks and his almost there smile.

I just looked up at him with my lips parted and I think my heart stopped beating for that moment. I could feel my heart in my throat and I wasn't able to get any words out of my mouth. So I just stared at him and then when my brain caught up to what was happening (finally!) I nodded my head and I was sure my cheeks were a dark shade of red and I stuttered, "yes, I would love to."

After that we exchanged numbers and he told me he'd text or call me about the details of the date. I left the car and I saw that he didn't leave until I had entered my house.

I went up to my room and flung myself onto the bed and sighed. Just as my eyes began to close, I heard my hone ring. I turned on my bed and for some reason my insides were just tingly and I felt unbelievably happy and... Weird. I answered my phone and I was slightly disappointed when I heard Maddison's voice on the other end of the line and not Jake's.

"I found out all about your work history boy!" She almost screamed into the phone.

"Really, what about him?"

"Only that his full name is Jake Wallace, he moved here from Seattle a couple of weeks ago and both his parents are doctors and he's incredibly rich and he has a younger brother who's like 4! He was the captain of the track team at his last school and he's already tried out for the track team here. He has a 4.2 grade average and also he's incredibly hot."

"Wow. How do you know all of this?" Maddison was always able to find out loads about loads of people and I always knew this. However, I didn't know she could find out this much in such a short amount of time. Sometimes, Maddison scared me.

"Daniel told me. He has four classes with him. He told me everything I know about jake."

"Oh." This was all I could say.

"Anyway, you're coming with me for Josh's party today, right?" Even though it was a question, I knew I didn't really have much of a choice. But it was still worth a try..

"Do I have to go?"

"Yes."

"Okay," I groaned.

"Come over at 7 and we'll get ready and then Daniel will drive us to Josh's house."

"Okay," I said

"Okay." She said. And then out of nowhere, she said, "so bye now my little pumpkin pie! You're my favourite monkey paw!"

"You just get weirder and more random by the minute. What am I going to do with you?" I chuckled and shook my head in mock disappointment and then I stopped when I realised she couldn't actually see me.

"Okay, so I'll see you soon then?"

"I'll see you soon then." I put the phone down and just as I was about to go to sleep, my phone beeped. My heart did that little jumpy thing when I saw the name flash across the phone screen. It was Jake.

Hey :) - J

I replied instantly.

Hi :) - D

Less than a minute after I sent the message, my phone started ringing with Jake's name flashing on the screen. I answered in a few seconds.

"What are you doing tomorrow?"

"Nothing much, mostly sleep."

"Would you give up sleeping in the day to go out for lunch with me?" I knew he was going to ask me out. That's why he called. He told me he'd call! But I still felt my heart swell when he actually did ask me.
