Writing Style

Have I ever mentioned before that mistakes help you grow as a person? Well, yeah, if you're wondering, it's true. But, it doesn't mean we should create more mistakes as possible because it wouldn't be called "mistakes" anymore, but a choice.

Ever since I was in third grade, I've always looked up to writers. I told myself that day that I wanted to become like them. They are powerful in a way that they could influence people and give color to the world through poetry and literature.

I started writing stories about aliens, fairies, clones, angels and more. And, they all had the same writing style. They were all written in third person point of view. And, not to mention, they are all written in English.

Here comes Wattpad. I found this site thanks to Diary ng Panget by @HaveYouSeenThisGirL who had influenced my writing style for my first book a lot. Honestly, I had this whole concept in my mind but I was confused at first. I'm not a taglish writer and I don't write in the first person point of view. But, every great book here in Wattpad seems to be written in Taglish and in first POV. So, I didn't go my own way, I tried their way.

I'm not good at Tagalog because it's not my first language and I'm not used to writing with this language. I told myself this isn't my writing style but then, maybe I should just give it at least a try.

That's when I started "Love Behind A Thousand Lies". I am happy to say I've finally finished a book and this is it. Now I admit, I love the plot, I love the characters simply because this book is my baby, but it has flaws too.

First, I realized I am an overwriter. Okay, writers tend to fall into two categories: the overwriters and the underwriters. Overwriters are writers who produce a lot of words or content and tones it down around the editing phase while the underwriters don't write much and tend to add more words during the editing phase to reach their aimed word length.

And well, I tried trimming it down but failed. I was actually aiming for page count and then I later realized that a wattpad page length isn't the same as the standard page length. A wattpad page usually holds up to 700 to 800 words while a the standard one holds 300-400 word length. It was a mess. The size of my book was overwhelming. Maybe that's why it took me so long to finish it.

Every writer will have that moment that they're producing the crappiest crap of all the craps in the world, but always remind yourself that isn't true. Writing is a process, as well as learning so what makes you think learning how to write isn't a process too?

So, right now, I'm writing The Zodiac Revolution. I'm not sure what will happen to this but I feel quite excited for the story. I would really appreciate if you try checking it out. Thanks! Have a nice, summer break, everyone. Adios.
