As we pull up to the tall office building, I feel Gavin put the car in park. "Tip, whats wrong? You've looked bothered since we left home." i shake my head in attempt to shake this nerve-racking feeling. "I'm OK, Gav. Just have a lot on my mind." He looks at me with disappointment. Ever since we've been in a committed relationship, we both vowed we would always be honest, no matter how hurtful or happy the outcome would be. But i could tell it hurt him to see my dishonesty and to know i broke my vow. "when the time is right, we will talk. i don't want you to worry. So just take it easy, honey." he smiles in relief and leans over to kiss my cheek. i gave him an innocent smile and stepped out of the car. "Whew! i wonder how long i can "throw on" a fake smile," I mumble to myself as i walk through the revolving glass door to my company.
As ritual, im greeted warmly by the young receptionist, McKinley. her brown naturally kinky/curly hair compliments her green eyes along with her bright smile. "your eight o'clock is here, Ms Roster." i stop dead in my tracks, the tempo of my brown and light blue pumps is at a stand-still, and my eyebrows furrowed in question. "eight o'clock?" "Oh yes ma'am! she said you made the appointment last minute and you'd be expecting her. your friend who you had lunch with last week..." i smile at the harmless young thing, "i had four lunch meetings last week, Kinley." she puts her head down shamefully, "Oops." i walk toward the desk and whisper, "don't worry. i was nice this time," and gave her a playful wink.
standing at my office door, i hesitate to open it, taking deep breaths in preparation for my client. i open the door to discover the woman who seduces me in every way, every time i see her. my leather briefcase is unconsciously released from my grip. the thud of my bad surprises her, and she turns to face me with lustful eyes. licking her lips, she takes a few steps and sits on the front of my mahogany wooden desk.
