Chapter 4

Lucifer Pov

Riding a horse can be fun. But riding a horse for a whole day just hurts your butt. Like, a lot.
Lucifers little pony could ride very fast and the road was very bumpy, making it a constant battle to not fall of the horse.

The other kids had not talked much through out the trip, although this was the second day of traveling. We had camped in a little forest, in the sleeping bags the king gave us. It had been awkward, since Frey and Ariel expected me to light a fire with my powers. I could not do that, so I lit a fire the old fashion way.

Now we have reached our first landmark. A gigant rock, that fell of the mountain to our left. There is nothing special about this rock except for it is marked in our map. Frey said "So, if it took us one and a half day to come from Randell to here it will take......" We all held our breaths while Frey measured. " ...... ten days to get to Pretville." I sighted.
My butt does not look forward to spending ten days on a horseback.

When we stopped for the day and started setting up camp Riot came up to me. "Do you want to 'practice our powers'?"
"Sure." We walked deeper into the forest and sat down on a log. After a little silence I said. "I am sure that this is all set up. Not to be mean, but I do not believe that we have powers. Ariel and Frey have never demonstrated their magic, so why should we have eny?" Riot looked me in my eyes. "I do not know. But if we do not try, others will suffer. I mean, to be real, the king is straight out dumb, but he would not sent four kids into a battle if they where not special."

"How can be you take anything I say and make it reasonable?" Riot smiled. "I have been thought to since I was little. My family always said 'If you can not manipulate the others around you and be the leader, why are you there?'. A stupid motto, but you can not forget to walk eather."

I tried to concentrate, both to let Riot's words sink in, but also to remember the feeling I felt when I created the fire in the element room. Just by thinking about it made me feel like I was on fire again. I tried to take all the energy and pain I felt and sentered it in my palm. Now I can smell smoke and the pain only increased. It is somehow bearable and I go on.
I looked down and my hand is on fire.

I can not look away, but I know this fire is not under control. It spreads up my arm and I try to do something, enything, but I can't look away. Then I see something in the corner off my eye and hear a hissing noise. The fire is gone.
I look at Riot, who has a swirl of water in his hands, which is also only increasing. I jump up and grap the water between my hand, which are apparently as hot as the fire. The water is gone in a swift second and turned into vapor.

"Thank you, Riot, for saving me." I say. "No Lucifer, thank you. After killing the fire I felt like the water was tightening around me, trying to drown. We need to learn how to control this, it will kill us otherwise!" I stand up and start walking away. "Ariel and Frey might teach us how, but I really don't want them to bee our teachers." Riot stands up and follows me, deeper into the forest. "Why" he asks.

"Beacuse when around them I feel like I'm not worthy for enything. Ariel comes from the richest part of Randell and if you look at her clothes you see she has lot of money. Frey's family may not be that rich, but thy are very respected.
I just feel like they think I'm filthy and discusting!"

Riot looked at my and smiled shyly. "I thing you are....." Then I saw a big, broad shadow and something gripped my shoulder and tugged my closer it it. It smelled of blood. "Nice day, huh."
