Chapter 5: Althea Andrea Perez

               Thea's POV

"Althea, the boss wants to talk to you." Sabi ni Ally, isang manager na tukad ko rin na nagtatrabaho dito sa hotel. Tumingin ako sa kanya.

"Did the boss told you why?"

"No, but I think it's about a new guest and it seems whoever that person is, is kinda important because the boss also talked to me and the other level managers." Siguro nga. Ngumiti ako at pumunta sa opisina ni Taron Shelby, ang may ari ng isa sa mga kilalang hotel dito sa New York, ang Shelby Lightning Hotel.

"You wanted to talk to me sir?" Taron Shelby is a man in his mid 50s, semi bald but has a kind attitude and good heart. He's happily married to his wife, Carol, a Filipina, and they are blessed with three children. Tumaas ang ulo niya at tiningnan ako,

"Ms. Perez, good you're here. Have a sit, because I'm sure this may take long." Mukha nga talagang importante. Base rin sa action niya, parang apurado at kinakabahan.

"You seemed stressed sir. There's a big problem, isn't it?" Hindi naman siya ganito eh, Taron Shelby is know for his calm appearance but right now he look frantic.

"No,no it's not a problem child. I think you already know?

"If this is about the important guest they are talking about then yes, sir. I already know." Parang nahawaan ata ko ng kaba ah. I mentally shook my head. I've been doing this for four years, what could be the reason why I'm feeling nervous all of a sudden?

"You're right. It's about that important guest, a prominent and influential businessman will arrive here first thing tomorrow. He came here for business planing expansion and he wanted me to help him plan his plans in building a hotel and restaurant. And I'm feeling very nervous, as you can see, because I never had a client as powerful as this one." Oh! Talaga ngang importante to para sa kanya. Kapag kasi may kliyenteng nangangailangan ng tulong, lalo na sa mga hotel, kilala si Sir Taron, dahil dun, mas nagiging kilala ang hotel, at itong sinasabi ni sir na kliyente niya, ay maaring mas maging kilala pa ang hotel.

"But why did you asked for my presence sir?"

"I want you and the other managers will be with me tomorrow in welcoming him, we should not lose this chance for our hotel. I hope you understand me, Ms. Perez. I know you know that the Shelby Lightning Hotel is founded 13 years ago, but no achievements at all, even though how good our service. Curse those envious rivals of mine!" Alam ko kung gaano kagusto ni Sir Taron na mas lumaki at mas makilala pa ang hotel pero dahil sa mga karibal niya, pinalalabas nila na masama ang mga empleyado ng hotel, halos bumagsak na nga nooon eh. Noong napadpad ako dito sa tulong ni tita ko, dito ako nagtrabaho, nangangailangan sila ng taga ayos ng mga kama, nag apply ako at agad akong natanggap. But after three years of being a helper, i was promoted as one of the level managers along with Ally. And for the last four years, my job is being a hotel manager, that keeps him and i still living.

"Of course sir, I know all your hardships throughout the past years just to keep the hotel. And of course sir, the others and i are expected to welcome the important guest tomorrow."

Pagkatapos kong isara ang pinto ng bahay na tinitirhan namin, medyo naasiwa ako dahil tahimik. Ang ingay palagi kapag umuuwi ako.

Pumunta ko sa taas at binuksan ang kwarto niya, kaya naman pala tahimik ang bahay, tulog siya. Naiiling nalang ako habang napapangiti. Dahan dahan akong naglakad at umupo sa gilid ng kama.
