Vishal was chatting away to Darling on the phone as he drove home after work early that Saturday evening. It would be his sixth date with Shreya later that evening.

"Isn't that her?" voiced Vishal as his car stopped at a traffic light and a few girls crossed the road. Vishal had noticed Shreya among them. She had been talking on the phone without noticing him as she crossed the road along with the other girls.

"Who?" asked Darling, on the other end of the call.

"You."

"What?"

"Just kidding! It was Shreya who I saw just now," answered Vishal, as the traffic light turned green and he drove away.

"Oh."

"I saw her at a traffic light just now. She was talking to someone on her mobile."

Silence.

"You won't believe it, Darling! I've been dating her for six weeks, and I don't even know her number if I need to call her or any details about her if I need to contact her for anything."

There was a moment of silence before Darling spoke, sounding apprehensive. "Are you still in the car, Vi? Haven't you reached home yet?"

"I'm just driving in through the gate of my apartment now."

"And you were talking on the phone while driving?" Darling sounded relieved though she was posing a question to me.

"It was on speakers, Darling." Now, don't continue scolding me like Granz, Darling, please.

"Okay. I was just simply asking. I thought you would've reached home long ago." Okay, that's my Darling. Good girl....

"Oh, I was just leaving office when I called. So what were we talking about earlier?"

"Earlier?"

"I mean, before I saw Shreya and got distracted."

"Err... I can't recall it."

"Never mind then."

"So how are things between you and Shreya? Do you like her?"

"Of course I like her. She is a really nice person. And she's pretty, very pretty."

"Oh, okay."

"You will definitely like her! I tell you, if there's anyone I wanna introduce to Shreya first, it will surely be you."

"You never even bothered to know who I am, then how will you introduce me to anyone?" muttered Darling impassively.

However, Vishal hadn't heard what Darling had said as the doorbell rang and he hurried to check who it was, after saying, "Hold on, Darling, just a minute."

Vishal opened the door of his apartment to see his neighbour, Mrs. Vani, waiting outside.

"Good evening, Vishal. Is your Grandma home or has she left to Chennai already?" inquired Mrs. Vani.

"Oh no, Aunty. Grandma just left yesterday," replied Vishal.

"Sad. I had been out when she left yesterday. It's okay, I'll call her later."

"Okay, Aunty."

As Mrs. Vani left, Vishal closed the door and turned back to his mobile. Darling's call was on hold. She was waiting for him. Still. She was really patient....

"Hey, Darling! Sorry, didn't hear you. You know my neighbour, Mrs. Vani, right? She came to ask if Granz had left already. She wasn't around yesterday to say bye to Granz. My Granz is one social butterfly." Vishal laughed. "She's friends with so many people who live in my apartment."
